Welcome to the friendly exercise thread. Here we encourage each other to get up and move about as much as possible. [woohoo]

Hopefully as it warms up we will be able to get outside more for exercise. Maybe it will be walking, yard work, physical therapy, lifting weights, riding a bike, washing the car, shopping etc.

We count all movement as exercise. So tell us about your day!

Have a great week. [hi]

6Hypnone—welcome to the exercise thread. I hope you will drop by regularly.

I watched the National Cathedral service this morning on my iPad. Super sermon about how we aren’t in control of most of what happens on our lives.

I did a load of laundry.

Dropped my recycling at the bins in the grocery store parking lot and also dropped off books in the library drop box there.

Rode the exercise 27 minutes total. Divided it up into 2 parts.

I watched the Illini basketball team get beat by Purdue. I don’t think they will go far in post season play.

Leftovers for dinner and then probably watch the chick flick I didn’t watch last night.

Made French toast, bacon and eggs for breakfast and got busy right away with laundry and then outside.

Someone threw a beer bottle in the yard and parts flew into the driveway so spent time cleaning that up.

Took out all the old dead plants from pots and wiped down porch furniture and reversed the seat and backrest covers.

Cleaned steel security doors and vacuumed the porch. So much pollen down here! Also found scrape 2x4s in the shed and cut 2 four inch pieces and then sanded and painted them. Need them to extend the sunshade on the porch.

Need help adding the extra pieces I made and putting up the sunshade.

Spread dirt from the pots into the yard and did 2 loads of laundry.

Josh hurt his back so rushed over to show him some PT exercises. So all 3 of us did SI PT and I did one shoulder PT and all my arm exercises.

Josh brought over Mexican fast food which I really appreciated.

A very busy but productive day! Night all!

Wow, AK, you sure kicked it into high gear yesterday. Hope your body doesn’t cry about all that work today. Mine sure would.

I did my knee and feet exercises along with shoulder stretches.

Rode the exercise bike for 25 minutes.

Did my daily devotion plus read some in “God of the Way” by a rabbi and Kathie Lee Gifford.

Chatted with mom for a long time.

Filled the safflower feeder.

The snow plow kicked up a lot of loose asphalt from the deteriorating street into my driveway Friday night, so I cleaned that up.

Talked to my neighbor kids who were riding their bikes their swimsuits with bare feet. Lol. It was 67 today. But I had to remind them they can’t come above the sidewalk in my driveway because the girl always bangs her bike into my garage door. [tsk]

Took the garbage to the curb.

Cooking a boneless pork chop for dinner.

My two cleaning gals came today for my monthly clean. They are sisters. So nice and such a reasonable price. My bathtub never looked so good.

Am finding ants already in the house. It’s not even spring, yet! Just a few in the basement but will have to keep a vigilant eye out. Last year I ended up having to get a professional to spray because they were so bad.

I did my balance and feet exercises along with shoulder stretches.

Rode the exercise bike 18 minutes.

Called about mom’s medical bill. They now not only charge for the doctor visit but they charge a facility fee. And the facility fee costs more than her MD visit. What a racket! [cussing]

Went to the chiropractor and then on the way home stopped at the library.

Leftovers for dinner.

Hope everyone is having a good week!

Sunny day, though the breeze was cold. Had to put my hood up when I went out for a walk. Walked 20 minutes, around the pond and up the hill across the field to the huge oak tree at the edge of our property.

Gathered 22 eggs today.

Took the lemon tree outside and washed the leaves and branches with soapy water to clear the scale off.

Planted 12 kinds of tomatoes in gallon jugs. Two kinds per jug. We'll plant what we want and sell the rest.

Got the wash all folded and put away.

Worked at the quilt awhile. Want to go quilt some more this evening.

I did overdo it that day and the very next day ran errands and picked up potting soil and flowers and plants. Got those all potted and of course my lower back, hip and SI were killing me. So 2 days of work followed by medication and a slower day today.

The handyman came out to put up my sunshade on the porch and I couldn't find the brackets! Josh told me he thinks they're in the shed so I'll look tomorrow.

Mom actually sat outside a bit today so all that hard work was worth it. She loved all the flowers and plants!

Tomorrow we see the oncologist here so am hoping all goes well.

Manna I'm hoping to have time to sew some simple summer dresses with pockets. I hope they don't look to much like muumuus.

Hiker can't believe that facility charge! I've never heard of that before and it ticks me off too! Next charge will be for electricity!

Oh I did my SI and shoulder therapy and my arm and arm to opposite knee exercises with 3 lb weights today.

See you guys tomorrow!

[hi]

AK - Send healing prayers and positive vibes your way for your Oncologist appointment this morning.

Hopefully they will be able to streamline your Mom’s treatments soon to make it workable for all involved.

AK—Hope the visit with new oncologist went well. I can’t believe you have flowers to plant already. We have a chance of snow later in the week.

Manna-do you get lemons from your lemon tree? My parents had a lemon tree in their yard when they lived in Tempe, AZ and we had an olive tree when we lived in Tucson.

I went grocery shopping this morning. Bought myself some Medjool dates as a treat along with my regular groceries. A bit out of season but better than chocolate or chips.

Did my knee and feet exercises and rode the exercise bike for 15 minutes.

Called mom.

Then took a nap. Have a headache and the toxic feeling I get when I am sick but have few symptoms. Just a bit of sinus congestion and joint pain.

Making chicken salad for dinner. Had chicken rice soup for lunch so I am double “clucking” today. [Big Grin] 🐔

Hiker, we had chicken salad for lunch today.

We got one lemon from the tree so far. Last year the baby lemons fell off almost right away. I wonder if our house is too dry over winter? As soon as its warm enough we set it outside. I'm hoping it will bloom this summer.

Took a 20 minute walk today.

Gathered 25 eggs.

Daughter was working at cleaning out one of the sheds. Found a bunch of clothes. Threw away 1 garbage bag full and have a second one with clothes we'll wash and donate.

The boys went to look at a car for sale after work and brought it along home. Sonny is pleased to have a vehicle of his own.

Got a few stitches in the quilt today. Want to go work at it again this evening.

Planted the pepper seeds, leeks, egg plant, rhubarb and let the hot pepper seed for Sonny to plant tomorrow.

Need to get my sourdough bread mixed up so it can rise overnight. Tomorrow is baking day.

Hiker .. a few years ago my cardiac center began charging a facility fee. I couldn't believe it. That went on for about two years at most.

Now for the past 3 years (?) there has not been a fee. So I don't know what happened?

Perhaps a lot of people threw a fit??

Lymetoo, I would imagine a lot of people will throw a fit at this hospital/clinic which keeps expanding all over the state.

I feel better today except for a headache but I slept over 10 hours last night which helped. I felt so lousy yesterday that I even did a Covid test which was negative.

Did my balance and feet exercises as well as my shoulder stretches.

Then rode the exercise bike for 15 minutes. 100 minutes per week goal achieved.

Battery in kitchen clock needed changing so dragged the ladder up from the basement and then went ahead and changed the time even though it is a few days early. Balancing on the ladder isn’t easy for me, nor is carrying it up and down the stairs.

Filled the safflower feeder again.

Did my daily devotion.

Washed my flannel sheets and put them back on the bed. Still cool enough here that I like the flannel.

Chatted with a friend this afternoon. That always puts a smile on my face especially on a chilly rainy day like today.

Leftover chicken salad for dinner tonight and then will watch the Illini play in the Big Ten basketball tournament against Penn State.

AK—praying for you and your mom.

BB-Hope you are in lees pain. Praying for you and all of us on the exercise thread.

Rough couple of days. Mom's new oncologist agreed to do the same therapy she was receiving in Atlanta so way less travel for us. The downside is our first appointment was a disappointment as far as he goes compared to her regular oncologist.

Definitely not as compassionate. Mom was not happy with him and I didn't agree to radiation treatment which was never recommended before.

We'll see how it goes.

Only managed SI PT twice today. Mom is no longer doing hers.

Had leftovers today so actually had time for a much needed chat with a friend.

Thank you guys for all the support and prayers!

[group hug]

Exercise was a hike up the hill to the field and back. It was getting dark and colder.

Baking day. Had 6 extra loaves than the usual.

Got a few more stitches in the quilt after supper this evening. Want to go work at it again.

Gathered 26 eggs today. 2 were on the floor again as usual. Seems at least two chickens think the floor is better than the nest boxes for laying eggs.

Ak, glad you don't need to drive so far, but too bad the doctor has poor bedside manners.

AK—sorry the new oncologist was a disappointment.

Manna—all the talk of egg laying makes me want to make deviled eggs for some reason.

I ran a load of laundry this morning.

Did my knee and feet exercises after a 5 minute warmup on the bicycle.

Chatted with my mom. I will head there tomorrow for a couple of days.

Watched several Christian videos.

Took a short nap.

Will have baked salmon, sweet potato and asparagus tonight.

Then either read or watch a movie. I recorded “The Way We Were” as I haven’t seen that in years. If I remember it made me cry.

Gloomy cold day out today but as long as there isn’t snow I guess I shouldn’t complain. Poor California!

Rain this morning, then a bit of sunshine before it clouded over again. Had more showers this evening and the temps dropped today. Its 36* now.

I need to go cover the milk jug greenhouses so the things that are up don't freeze.

The electricity blinked on n off a few times then went off for a little while. Fortunately we were all doing things we could do without electricity. The neighbor called it in and we soon had lights again.

Our pork came today, so reorganized the freezers and packed it all in. Hubby and daughter couldn't wait till breakfast tomorrow, so fried up some scrapple for a bedtime snack.

Feeling kind of off today. My digestive system isn't so happy and felt a bit lightheaded / whoozy at times. My back was really tight also until I rifed muscles-to-relax. That really helps!

Got 20 eggs today and one had a hole pecked in it. But it rolled away that she could reach it to eat the whole thing. Gave that one to the cats.

Got the washing done, but not all of it folded and put away. There's always tomorrow.

Manna hope you feel better soon.

Hiker enjoy time with your Mom.

Rainy and cooler here too. Grateful it washed off most of the pollen on the car. Ran to the bank, picked up water, gassed up the car and finally grocery shopping at the commissary.

Made potato salad tonight to go with the dinner I'm making tomorrow. Josh is coming and he hasn't been for a few weeks because he had some kind of flu bug.

Me and Mom had leftovers again....blah....I'm glad I finally finished mine.

Just one round of PT and only did one shoulder exercise. [Roll Eyes]

I'm ready to read myself to sleep. Night everyone!

Had to laugh at your comment about deviled eggs, hiker! Hope you have a safe trip.

AK .. is your mom still able to go grocery shopping with you? Hope she has a good day today.

I'm going to the city for a MCAS support group meeting. We haven't had one in two years. This one is really for fellowship since we miss each other. Should be fun.

It's rainy and cold here too. 40's that right now feel like 30's. I think the high will be 48.

Feel better soon, Manna!

Posted by hiker53 (Member # 6046) on :

Manna-sorry you aren’t well. Speedy recovery is in my prayers.

Tutu, meeting sounds fun. Enjoy.

I did a load of laundry this morning.

Then drove over to mom’s before the rain came. Expecting rain and snow tonight.

Am doing the usual chores for my mom—organizing, cleaning, recycling etc.

We will go to dinner in the dining room. Not sure what is on the menu but we always get vanilla ice cream with hot fudge for dessert.

And then I will turn the clocks ahead.

Spring forward, everyone! [Big Grin]

Feeling better this evening, but rather tired, even though I really didn't do much today.

Folded a load of wash and put it away. Put all the clothes away that are on hangers.

Warmed up the vegetable beef soup for lunch.

Quilted a little while this afternoon.

Mixed the scratch grains and sunflower seeds into the chickn feed. Gave them food and water and gathered 29 eggs. Carried out a dish of scraps for them to eat.

Threw some old bread over the fence into the goat pasture for the goats and guineas to eat.

Supper was sausage, potatoes, peas and cabbage. Dessert: cake and ice cream. Though I didn't have any dessert.

Dinner turned out to be delightful here. Mom and I ate with two other women. One was a former chemist and was in the Illinois State legislature for years and the other one did a lot scuba diving.

So enjoyable to hear their tales.

Dinner was tomato basil soup with Parmesan, tossed salad, chicken with Gouda and pepper sauce, baked sweet potato, peas and carrots and moose tracks ice cream with hot fudge.

I will sleep with a full belly tonight.

Sounds like we all had a nice dinner. Josh came by for dinner so made a brown sugar and butter ham slice with potato salad, corn on the cob and lima beans. We had a slice of rum Stollen toasted with cream cheese and coffee for dessert.

I didn't do much today outside of cooking and doing dishes.

Mom didn't join us for dinner and is still pretty much bedbound. Still she was very happy to see Josh. I sure hope we can get her in therapy asap for her SI joint pain.

Between that extra pain, UTI and sodium issues she's really getting worn down.

I've been pretty worried.

I did no PT or exercises today. Just feeling tired today.

Night friends!
