Sorry to be of so much pestering questions but yesterday I was doing something and turned half way around and leaned over something hard edged and pulled on a rope real hard.

Didnt feel THAT bad at the time but all day long it got worse and worse. Needless to say it was NOT a good night last night.

hard to get comfy and keep from bumping wrong position.

Question is how do you tell IF it is really cracked or strained, sprained, or brusied?? I cracked ribs eons ago(water skiing on a fast approching beach) and KNOW you cant do any thing but does anything ever HELP ease things up a bit????

ANY other advice for the overly heavy(sounds like a GOOD excuse to diet) when you cant lean over any thing any more!!!

My arches are killing me too,,,lately,,,I am just FALLING apart!!!YIKES!!! Beam me up, otta here!!

Today,,,yikes,,, I half sneezed this morning and stopped half way thru it HURT so bad. Ever half sneeze??

My hubby did this years ago and again this summer, thinking he is 16.

Well,I don't know,a pillow will be a good friend to have around.Hold on to it when a good sneeze or laugh is approaching.OUCH!!

Good luck and hope you feel better.

I separated a rib about a year ago. I went to smart-as* doctor to see if there was anything to do to relieve the pain. It hurt every time I took a breath or turned the wrong way.

Doctor asked, "When does it hurt the most"?

I said, "When I hold my left arm up above my shoulders".

He said, "Well don't do that"!

He went to school for like 12 years in order to tell me to not do that when it hurts.

It took about three weeks for the darn thing to stop hurting.

I've heard that Vicodin works well, Good Luck.

Are you taking Zocor? Will cause those problems sometimes.

My kids were at one of those "cosmic bowling" parties where they turn off all the lights except dayglo swirling globes-very dark.

I came from bright sunshine in to the darkened bowling alley and tripped over some A-hole's bowling bag . I fell so hard I started screaming OW OW OW OW OW OW [rant] [rant] [rant] .

No one saw me or heard me over the loud music and bowling pins, so I stopped- realized If I could scream, I could still breath and probably wasn't going to die but I was in so much pain . So I just lay there until I could move.

Eventually went to doc who sent me for xrays-fractured only one rib which hurt like a son of a witch, but I wore a cloth wrap around brace for a while- took Advil-and eventually- few weeks- it healed and pain subsided.

So healing will occur- you could by-pass the xrays and try to wear an elastic corset. Need someone to come out and finish the farm chores for you?

Meanwhile- One Day At a time-this too shall pass-but you have my empathy in the meantime. [Frown]

UPDATE for all,

I feel quite a bit better,,,not 100% but much better. Now it feels like a side ache thing . I can move a little and it doesnt pull as much. Sneezing and coughing still to be avoided at all costs. But I can function ,,,again,,,alto barely.

Remind myself,,,you are TOO heavy to support yourself on one small part of torso. OR dont pull so HARD!!

Seems like getting better by the day tho. Thanks for the sympathy meanwhile. Or NOT!!!Here's hoping you NEVER have a rib injury!!!i remain--just don--
