I hope to go see it this weekend. In our little hometown theater, you have to wear your arctic boots, long underwear, and take ear plugs. Or sometimes a hearing aid. Depends on who's asleep at the switch in the control room.

I'll remember not to sit too close. Gee, I hope I can sit that long.

I'll have to go for the special effects and ignore the irritating philosophic agenda.

Toto - or Tutu, as the case may be - we're not in Kansas anymore, are we?

Anyone with vestibular dysfunction, adrenal exhaustion or a nervous system that is overwhelmed and easily excited really should consider avoiding movies that can be alarming to the body.

Some here seems to have done okay seeing "Avatar" but there are some very serious considerations for lyme patients - and, yes, I believe it could cause life-threatening reactions for some. Vertigo, seizures may also be of concern.

MAN'S EXCITEMENT OVER "AVATAR" MAY HAVE CAUSED HIS DEATH

People across the world have been flocking to theaters to contribute to the $1.3 billion the film Avatar has already scored at the box office.

Unfortunately, a 42-year-old Taiwanese man from the city of Hsinchu passed away after watching the 3D version of the blockbuster smash hit, due to a stroke and brain hemorrhaging that doctors believe may have been caused by his reaction to the film.

Mr. Kuo reported feeling sick in the theater and was taken to hospital where he arrived in an unconscious state and died eleven days later, Moviefone reports.

According to Pen Ching-Chan, the emergency room doctor who Mr. Kuo, it was ``likely that the over-excitement from watching the movie triggered his symptoms.''

Mr. Kuo also had hypertension and a history of high blood pressure.

This is not the first time James Cameron's epic has made viewers feel sick, with audience members having complained of nausea, dizziness, blurred vision, headaches, thoughts of depression and other adverse health effects after viewings, according to Moviefone.

All the 3D action might just be too much.

Before Avatar's release, there was concern that its groundbreaking 3D camera work would cause viewers to feel sick.

Mr. Kuo's passing, however, is the first recorded death.

Okay - I'd love to hear from some who did okay and could really get into the movie.

I'm sure some here must have enjoyed it. My question to those is if an inner ear condition - or vertigo of any kind - is part of your daily life.

I'm curious as to how it is for those who have seen it.

And, any sudden jolts? Is it loud (well, all movies are - but I'm hoping the surreal nature of this might be more subdued than most movies)?

Many here are eagerly awaiting the DVD release.

The family and I saw Avatar on Monday.

LOVED it.

I presently do not have vertigo, have in the past, but do sometimes have problems with my ears and some dizziness on and off.

The first five to ten minutes of the movie were definitely a little iffy for me! I felt a bit loopy and google-eyed. I stuck it out and was fine after a few minutes. I actually think everyone in the theater did the same.

It really was an amazing movie. I kept looking over at my son and he had the BIGGEST smile on his face. And it was funny to see people trying to grab things in front of them.

I saw Avatar twice. I can say I loved it because of the great special effects.

Although I agree with most of the message of the movie, I was disappointed at how it spoon fed its message into the audience, as if we couldn't catch on to something more subtle. It was almost as if the message was in characature.

I do have dizziness, and ringing in my ears, and I am shocked to see reported that someone died from the movie.

Because we have no "control" for this dead man's experience, we don't know if he would have died in Walmart just as well at that moment.

The 3D nature of the movie was not as gimicky as cartoons I've seen with poles sticking out into your face and bubbles floating in front of you.

Rather, it just made the world of the movie appear....three dimensional.

And I've seen movies with lots of car races and flight crashes and such (thought I'm not into action films) that would have made me more dizzy.

AS far as the movie being long, the time flew by for me, even though I have terrible pain sitting just at my computer for 30 minutes.

The message of the movie, as I experienced it, is this:

All living things are part of the whole, and they should not be abused. Governments often label a country as an enemy when that country has a resource that is wanted. The desire for the resource outweights any cultural site it sits under. Corporations rape the planet, leaving it scarred and ugly. Then of course, the old theme of the "noble savage" with a hint of Pocahontas thrown in.

I have to say that there are truths the movie dishes out, even if the audience is spoon fed.

But somehow, because of the great special effects, people are drawn to see the movie despite the lecture.

I have a friend in a wheelchair and I would not take her to see it. It's too hard, when the wheel chair bound protagonist is placed in his avatar body and experiences the joy of a whole body again and can run. I wouldn't put my friend through that. That part was tough for me as it is.

Anyway, those are some of my impressions.

Lymewreck36 this assessment is spot on and in my opinion they are all true. I know some where not happy that it was kind of in your face, but none the less these points are true in the world we live in. The special effects were amazing.
