I try to keep things that I watch on TV to simple, uplifting stories.

But, you can't watch TV and not catch bits and pieces of this story.

I am still stuck on why the mom or the grandparents waited so long to report her missing.

Saw the part of when the grandma was on the stand. She said she saw the child daily.

but, it took them a month to report her missing??

Also kind of picking up that there really is no hard evidence on how she died and who was connected to her death.

Also noticed how disconnected the mom is while she is in court. Something wrong there.

There is something wrong with this whole picture.

It looks like the truth will not be known.

It looks like the mom will be serving time.

Lots of missing links with this one.

Looks like the person representing the mom either had nothing to work with or is just a lousy lawyer.

Case seems to be yes she is guilty and mom admits she is guilty.

But, they never explained why the mom never called it in.

Why the grandparents waited so long to report it.

If it were a pool drowning, why the child was buried in the woods. Who buried the child there.

Why is there even a court case when she confessed to be guilty??

Is it to determine her sentence?

Not Guilty! Prosecution didn't prove their case or motive.

I've never heard of a child murder case that the prosecution's motive was the parent killed their child to enjoy the party life.

No motive, no cause of death, no DNA, remains tampered with, inadequate autopsy by the so called great TV Dr G, nothing!

They had NO evidence in the case of Scott Peterson. No DNA, no nothing, but the prosecution stated that his motive was because he had a mistress and wanted to be free.

(Sinilar motive the prosecution gave for Casey.) ALL circumstantial, but he was convicted and given the death sentence.

Maybe the California jury just had more common sense! If it looks like a duck so to speak, you know it's a duck. If the duck can't quack, but you know he is a duck, he is still guilty of being a duck.

She will not serve time, kam. She's been in jail for 3 yrs already. Doubt she'll stay any longer.. one year MAYBE.

She kept lying to her parents about where Caylee was. That is why a month went by. Then the grandmother demanded to know what was going on.

That does not jive with an "accidental drowning" .. sure, right.

The whole situation is just plain sad.

what about the daddy ?
why is he so protected,
I heard he is a doctor.... (:

Your right tutu..I just heard that she most likely will get time served on Thursday.

More questions than answers with this case.

I did hear something about the father payne. A lady who said she believed she was the grandmother was speaking and told why she thought it was her son's baby.

her son is dead.

Can't recall who was talking with her but they were going to follow through with a DNA test.

I didn't tune in until closing statements on Sat & Sun when televised. Watched the majority of that. Just too sad and depressing for my being.

I can't image going 31 days as a grandparent and not going crazy with police or by myself. No way would my husband and I accept bull stories from someone I didn't trust to begin with.

Maybe we're grandparents too involved in our grandchildren's well being. But as soon as a divorce happened with their parents and the parents became dependant on us for childcare, we become real involved and quite frankly responsible for these children too.

Somebody is going to be accountable for Caylee's death. Every dog has their day. It just reminds me so much of the OJ trial. What a circus????

Pam

can't even type the right name???? i guess it hearing casey casey casey all day long. like she was the victim!!!!!!!!!!!!

being on bedrest I have watched all day every day... (I know I am lame)

I tried to put myself on the jury in my mind. what would I honestly do?

I personally dont think there was enough for murder 1. I couldnt send someone to the death penalty based on what I heard during this trial. I am pro death penalty.

I really thought that she should have got manslaughter and child abuse. But lying to the cops only. I bet she walks tomorrow with time served.

Good to hear from someone who followed it Melissa.

Still shaking my head this am. Strange.

I agree Merrygirl. Manslaughter because her actions convicted her, and child abuse for not reporting it. Nothing more or less because there was little scientific evidence. I am not for the death penalty. I think slave labor out in the sticks fabricating a kneed should replace it.

You know with the secrets and lies someone in that family did it. Someone should pay. You also know that Casey threw her father under the bridge for molestation and the only other person Defense had eluded to being negligent was the grandmother, someone Casey also would've very easily thrown under the bridge if it were true.

I seem to recall a discussion about the Jurors prior to the trial, something which has not been revisited since, but if indeed true, may have been one of the downfalls of this particular group of jurors. Only three of them had children...I think.

Parenting is something you have to experience to understand fully its loss. No offense meant to others without, but it's an amazing relationship you learn of when you have it.

It was not disputed that a different group of Jurors would've likely led to a very different outcome.

There is no retribution for this little lost life. One Psychologist said the dysfunction in the family would result in everyone overlooking Casey's offenses to her daughter and to them and return life back to usual.

yeah i heard something about the jury being "blue collar" and no professionals on it. thought that was interesting.

i'm hoping she will get an additional four years, one year for each count of lying.

bet it won't be long before she's out partying again. any takers??

I've been totally out of the loop here. Did I hear that she drowned in the family's pool??

JoAnne

that's what they were claiming. but then why the duck tape, why the lies, partying, etc.,? don't make sense.

GUILTY - at the very least of child neglect and disposing of the body. I am disgusted she will walk free.

My brain picks up bits and pieces of things on the news. Heard one lady has done something about this.

it will be named after the little girl. But, it will make it a law to report a child missing right away or if the child dies to report that right away..my recall on what I hear is very poor.

But, it is the type of law that if it was in place when this happened this case would have a different outcome.

I heard about Caylee's Law last night. We can make laws and change a failed system when these thing arise.

I'm so upset with all the people leaving babies & children in the hot hot cars now. What is the problem with people.

There is no excuse with all the horrible stories....you do not under any circumstance leave a child/baby in a car PERIOD.

I want this stopped. So senseless!!!!!

I think companies that pay employees to walk the parking lot and look for children or babies in the vehicles is another law that should be made.

How much great publicity can a GOOD story get?????

looks like she walks in 6 days.

what a mess.

Posted by randibear (Member # 11290) on :

well ya'll wanna bet she's out partying and living the high life within oh say, a month? and then all the tv shows.

she's going to make a mint and i bet she's going to be in our faces a long time.

she got away with murder, pure and simple.

another oj...

Yeh, well, I imagine she oughta watch her back.

There's a lot more crazies out there then just her, and someone may make her wish she was under the protective custody of a jail.

Did you hear a porn producer offered her a job? Suppose that explains her long flowing hair on the last day. Although I think she declined, her wheels are likely turning. I would be mortified.

Guilty. Guilty. Guilty.
No doubt in my mind.

The jury believed the made-up stories of the defence with no proof, but they disregarded the evidence presented??? They were lazy or too easily swayed by baloney.

The jury deliberated for 11 hours, but did they?
The first day of deliberation they met for 3 hours and then went back to hotel. The next morning they all came to court really dressed up and "deliberated" some more. Ha! They knew their verdict the first day and dressed up for the cameras for the second day when they knew the verdicts would be read. That's not enough time to go over all the testimony and evidence again. Lazy.

But of course, that one juror had to make it to their cruise ship, so no time for deliberation.

Unfortunately, there are many examples of mothers killing their kids for stupid reasons. Susan Smith drove her kids into a lake because her boyfriend didn't like children.

Casey is a textbook sociopath. She only cares for herself. She will love the attention she will receive, even the negative attention.

As another daily watcher, thank you for stating fact. Personally, I think she's guilty. However, you cannot say that someone murdered another if you don't even have a cause of death. If you can't say how someone died, you cannot say that it was caused willfully by another person.

It sickens me, but the jury is right, the state did not prove their case. Note there is a difference between "not guilty" and "innocent" in our legal system. Casey was not determined to be innocent. I know that doesn't make anyone feel better.

Remember there are reasons the system works the way it does. Someday one of us might be dependent on a jury's verdict. That jury was thoroughly prepared for the job they were tasked to do and followed the letter of the law.

I am glad for those demanding Caylee's law. I am glad our system is designed the way it is. And I am glad knowing that, when someone slips through it, karma and street justice takes care of the rest.

What's the buzz on the street down there, anyway?

I say guilty, but to some degree, I understand how the jury came to the verdict-- the prosecution did not have the specifics regarding exactly who/ how many involved, and exactly how the girl died. BUT, dam that mother is guilty in my opinion based on simply not reporting her daughter missing for 31 days AND lying many, many, many times to police investigators!! Almost seems like a 'no-brain'er to me:)
