There was an old discussion here about canning. Some of it was about dry, oven canning. I've found something I like better than the oven for dry canning. It's the FoodSaver hose attachment that you use to suck the air out of semi-full canning jars.

Any dry ingredient can be dry canned with a FoodSaver but some work better than others.

I can beans, rice, salt, flour, sugar, brown sugar and the list goes on and on.

Just thought I'd let you know.

Ask and ye shall be driven nutz! How ya been doll? I've been groveling away trying to keep up with my gardens, both in ground and aquaponics. Grew a mess of beets in my hydroponic bed and it worked wonderfully well. I pressure caned them last week and got 18 pints from a 4'X8' bed and still had room for New Zealand spinach and bib lettuces. With a good size garden, a batch of something is always coming off and canning, I've come to the conclusion, is a fairly short term storage strategy, like maybe three years. My stash is good size but looking to branch out. I ordered a home freeze dryer from a guy out in Utah a couple of months ago and he calls this morning to tell me it's on de way! Really looking forward to this method of food preservation. Stores for 25 or so years just like the big boys!

Planted 13 fruit trees last week and have grapes and BlackBerrys coming from Burpe's, should have been shipped today. Life is a bit busy, don't goof off near as much as I'd like to.

Our two Chihuahua have passed on after 12 and 13 years and my most powerful wife started a nation wide search for a new male Chihuahua and low and behold found a wee boy here in Corpus Christi at a shelter. We'd have had less trouble adopting a Chinese kid, these guys were fussy. Lovely pup though and the most powerful is happy. We were gone from home about a week and when we pulled into the drive we found our house being guarded by a little black pit bull, no collar, dumped dog. I'll spare you the skinny ribs and sad eyes, Dumper as we now call him is our outside dog and he does a bang up job! My thoughts are that someone paid a lot of money for this beautiful dog and pretty well had him house trained in the use of dog doors but we figure he ate one couch too many and they took him for a ride. He has a penchant for high end items, welder, shopvac, 220 extension cord, honestly, we really don't know what all he has chewed up or buried. We built a room for him with lights and heat, well so far he has eaten two little electric heaters! I get a little mad till I remember that I was the same way when I was a pup, I still keep the good silver under lock and key! He may earn his keep if a shtf occurs. We had a wild little black and white kitten, the size of a rat, far too small to survive on his own, show up on out back porch. He was a blur for a couple of weeks then started eating regular at a dish we left on the porch and fast forward a bit, he now bangs on the upstairs door soon as he detects life in the morning, he comes in looking for someone to rub around and after breakfast he finds an over stuffed chair and sleeps all day. So now we have an outside dog and cat and an inside dog and cat.

I stop in from time to time but since the off topic has dropped to only a couple of post I kind of lost interest. The lefties seem to be keeping their heads down now that we've had one of their boys in for some years. I often wonder after MO and the knock down drag offs we had on here, it was fun and it passed the time. Any idea how her and her child is doing? Will close for now, hope all is well with everyone!

Guess I'll give them to all. No offense is meant to those who are not interested.
