One thing that struck me is that borrellia burg. is a parasite...and has been defined as such since Army Medical Dr. Jay Sanford called it a "parasitic spirochete" in 1976. Most american researchers have never personally had experience with parasites-- and this may account for some of the bias against the idea of chronic infection.
Anyone who has ever lived in a third world country and had experience with parasites knows that they are difficult to get rid of!!
