Hi everyone,

House Bill 798 is being reintroduced soon in PA.

I had contacted Rep. Stern's office about the need for improved Lyme disease awareness, diagnosis and treatment.

In return, he sent me a copy of Prior House Bill 798 which will be reintroduced soon by Rep. Merle H. Phillips.

This bill acknowledges chronic lyme, the need for long term antibiotics, the need for insurance co's to pay for treatment if the patient has a lyme diagnosis in their medical record, and provides for Dr's...that they should not be subject to professional misconduct for prescribing long term antibiotics for lyme patients.

The bill says that a task force should be formed which would include, among others:

2 LLMD's, an epidemiologist with expertise in spirochetes, and 2 people from LD support groups. The others are the insurance commisioner or designee, sec'y of health, etc.

From what I read and understood, this would be a huge step forward for Lyme patients and Dr's in PA. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this bill passes!
