The day before the LDA/ILADS conference, there will be a Lyme activists' workshop (at a hotel adjacent to the one with the main conferences.)There will be discussion of how individuals and groups can get involved on the local, state and federal level, as well as information about issues related to Lyme and the schools.

I really want to attend but am waiting to see how I feel. I am falling out of remission and getting IV very soon to push back symtoms. I will crawl if I have to but won't know until meds start. I've hesitated getting a room and signing up in cases I herx too badly.
I'll keep you posted if that's ok.

Dorothy, I should have coordinated with you! Well, great minds think alike. Here's what I posted just before you.

We have a very special program planned for October 22 in Washington DC for all you advocates and patient activists. Starting at 8 am:

* Lyme in the schools with Sandy Berenbaum and Time for Lyme co-president Di Blanchard. TFL has a Lyme curriculum designed for school children.

* State legislation with Karen Gaudian and LDA president Pat Smith - two who worked on the recent successful doctor protection law in CT.

* CALDA CEO Lorraine Johnson - need I say more? She spearheaded the entire IDSA civil investigation project from its conceptualization through coordinating all the presentations at the hearing.

* Federal legislation with NJ Congressman Chris Smith's Legislative Director Tim Lynath and Pat Smith. Cong. Smith is the author of HR 1179, the federal Lyme bill.

* A panel of patient advocates who are doing interesting and important things around the country will share their thoughts with you! Doug Fearn (PA), Jennifer Reid (CT), Dorothy Leland (CA), Liz Schmitz (GA)

Sign up at http://www.lymedisease.org/activism/lyme_events.html
It will be an interesting, inspiring and energizing event!

The LDA conference is filling up and has limited seating. www.lymediseaseassociation.org

We have a special arrangement with ILADS for a one-day registration for workshop attendees for $200. Contact ILADS. Www.ilads.org

A few people living near DC have offered hospitality (contact me for info) and ILADS may reserve more rooms at a special price if there is demand. Contact Barbara Buchman at 301-263-1080

I hope to see you there.
