Recently Popular...shows 7 pages of nominees to date

i got this in today's email, and went thru all 7 pages of folks nominated.

i feel andy wilson or PAT SMITH would be good nominees for this; what is your opinion?

the above site has more info on there, and voting has started;

from 1000 to 6,000 votes/views!!

Nomination done!

Posted by Robin123 (Member # 9197) on :

They accepted the nomination of Andy Wilson! I noticed the bio is a bit outdated and just asked them to go to the openeyepictures site to update it, especially regarding the fact the film is done.

Posted by bettyg (Member # 6147) on :

robin,

so you completed the nomination form & sent?? outstanding.

now we've got to promote it.

phyllis mervine sent me another person as well, lorraine johnson, calda!!

i asked her to complete the nomination form and then we can advertise BOTH TOGETHER to get the word out to others HERE, OTHER LYME BOARDS, LYMEINFO, emails, etc.

thx for taking the initiatve robin! [Smile] hugs/kisses

Voted for Andy

I think CALDA would be good too.

And Andy's bio is not updated yet. Tried to send an email. Will try again later.

Posted by kam (Member # 3410) on :

How about Dr. Ray Jones??

Posted by Robin123 (Member # 9197) on :

I only saw Andy listed at this point. He's on page 5, with 500-something votes so far, I think. Well, it says views - I'm not sure if a view means a vote.

It would be a good idea I think for more of us to email the organization to ask for the bio update - the film is not in production - it's done!

Posted by bettyg (Member # 6147) on :

i'm going to email andy wilson asking if they would send out an open eye post about our nominating him and giving the website.

i looked; he was on page 5; now he's somewhere else again??

kam, yes, dr. charles jones sounds wonderful also; do you want to complete the form and nominate him??

anyway, we've got to advertise andy wilson IMMEDIATELY to start getting the votes coming in.

then when lorraine johnson, dr. jones' names appear ... we can let them know about that as well.

thanks everyone! i tried again; could vote ONLY ONCE!

ticked off...i don't know hw you managed 2 votes [Smile] lol

Posted by Robin123 (Member # 9197) on :

Only 2 votes, Ticked Off? I'd cast many for this film...

Posted by bettyg (Member # 6147) on :

robin, are you able to vote MORE than once? how? i tried again today.

well go my email off to andy wilson, my home lyme group list, lymeinfo i think is cheryl's daily posts.

send the above link to ALL YOUR LYME FRIENDS EVERYWHERE!

wish we could tell how many have votes vs. have been viewed!!

Posted by Robin123 (Member # 9197) on :

That was an lol, Betty.

I don't think we get to see the number of votes cast.

But high number of views is an indication of interest level. I noticed the profile view count is rising quickly - over 600 views now.

I'm NOT good at navigating new sites. How do I vote?

Posted by kam (Member # 3410) on :

Lymetoo...it took me about 3 times visiting the site to see that I needed to do a search for Andy Wilson.

Then click under his name where it says vote I think.

Going to see if I can pull his name up again.

Posted by WildCondor (Member # 434) on :

Yeah, just do a search for his name on the top, and it will bring up his profile. You have to register your email and name, that's all. [Smile]

Posted by ticked-offinNc (Member # 15420) on :

Robin, can you vote more than once a day? The sight says I have 8 votes left, but it would not let me vote again today, at least for Andy. I admit to being the village ill=literate with computers! Thanks

Would also like to nominate the other Dr. J, as a measure of support. I will try to figure it out tommorow.

Posted by bettyg (Member # 6147) on :

702 views for andy, now on page TWO !!

I just clicked the VOTE button, no email did i have to show. confusing

Posted by Robin123 (Member # 9197) on :

We're doing good! At least as far as view numbers! Every time I get back here, the view count has gone up by a hundred.

Betty, I see him listed on pg 3. That's interesting all by itself - he moved from pg 7 to pg 5 to pg 3. If this keeps up, he's going to be found on pg 1 soon.

Everyone, vote multiple times. Alright, jus' kidding, but tell everyone else to cast their vote.

Ticked-off, they're allowing us to appreciate up to ten people on that list.

Since they are looking for changemakers in society, we actually have several Lyme folks who have influenced the course of things Lyme, so think about it, and make nominations. Let's nominate a bunch of Lyme mover-shakers! The site needs to accept the nomination.

In my nomination, I wrote about Andy's film contributions, and I also mentioned Kris Newby's contribution to the film.

I notice that they went ahead and pulled up what appears to be an old openeyepictures write-up. It would be nice if it were updated from the film being in production to being finished!

robin,

on my post above when i was on the site, i read the bio, etc. and at the bottom are 2 chices:

edit bio; ADD TO BIO; so i sent this there to the change.org site

ANDY WILSON nominee, please add the following to his bio; thanks [Smile]

to whom it may concern,

Please add about UNDER OUR SKIN: Under Our Skin was seen in the largest USA cities in 2009 on the big screen with large crowds in attendance. UOS is a lyme/tick documentary based on 4 lyme patient lives. It shows the lyme war controversary of 2 different ways to treat lyme and co-infections:

ILADS, International Lyme Associated Disease Society, known to us lyme patients as chronic LLMDS, lyme literate mds, who treat long-term antibiotics longer than 3 weeks up to several years.

IDSA, Infecious Disease Society of America, known as infectious disease drs., who treat from ONE pill up to 3 weeks max antibiotics, and "you are cured"! NOPE, you are undertreated and end up with chronic lyme disease.

Betty G, 40 yr. chronic lyme patient; misdiagnosed 34.5 yrs. by 40-50 drs!
Iowa lyme activist

************

so try as i have since they haven't updated it on their own yet....

robin, i also have my view font on XL, and my lower right on 200%, so that's why i'm probably 1 page different than the rest of you folks [Smile]

And the view count has doubled as of last nite!

So keep letting people know!

Posted by Robin123 (Member # 9197) on :

Thx, Betty - but I definitely told them the UOS film was being widely shown! A film in production, as their write-up states, would not be causing all this attention!

Well, maybe, from now on, if Andy has films in production, people will be paying attention to what's coming next!

Posted by nenet (Member # 13174) on :

I registered and voted yesterday.

Has anyone been nominated other than Andy yet? I have 9 more votes to give, and I don't think I can vote twice for the same person.

Posted by bettyg (Member # 6147) on :

FYI,

phyllis mervine sent me a pm of nominating lorraine johnson, calda, who did all the organizing for the 7-31 IDSA hearing in dc.

i asked phyllis to go ahead and complete nomination form; i've not heard back from her and she has not been online here.

kam mentioned dr. charles jones; i mentioned to her to submit nomination form if she is able to.

i'm NO good with this type of thing; haven't heard back from kam.

so anyway, we were hoping to get 2 or more LYME leading activists in there. that's all i know from when i 1st was sent this info and posted above. [Smile]

thanks for asking...

Past 4700 views now. Again, tonite he is in 2nd place on the first page, under Professor Yunus. Ahead of Al Gore, Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, etc. This is really fun!

Maybe it should be Andy for president next! lol

Keep spreading the word to everyone to vote for Andy!

Betty, I don't have the skills either to write up a good report.

I would like to see Andy's profile improved too but have yet to be able to send an email with added info.

i've been gone to another funeral today....

quoting andy wilson in the email i sent him about his nomination and asking him to put it out in his newsletter to folks ...

"Thanks Betty! I sent them an email to change the bio to say more about UOS. Hope that comes though. I'd feel more comfortable then being a "changemaker."

My Best,
Andy

i'm still reading all the pms and regular emails so there might be more; who knows? lol [Smile]

Thanks,

still time to vote!!

open eye sent out their newsletter and actress JOANNA KERNS daughter was just diagnosed with lyme disease!!

On October 26th, UNDER OUR SKIN screened at the Arclight Cinema in Hollywood as part of Variety's Screening Series of "the most anticipated movies of the season." Only a handful of documentaries were chosen for the series, which highlights films seen as possible contenders for the Oscar race.

Filmmaker Andy Abrahams Wilson and actress Joanna Kerns (above) were on hand for a lively Q&A.

Kerns spoke of the struggles with her daughter's Lyme disease, only recently diagnosed after years of health problems and misdiagnoses.

She also acknowledged how celebrities with the disease are reluctant to come forward because of fear for their careers.
******************************

On November 4th, Variety shows UNDER OUR SKIN as part of its screening series in New York, where many press and film industry representatives promise to attend.

Thanks to Turn The Corner Foundation (see below) for generously sponsoring these screenings

Tried to get the November e-newsletter to show up but it wouldn't go through. Guess anyone who wants to receive it can go sign up at their site - www.openeyepictures.com

As Betty said, it may be an Oscar documentary contender this year!

They are allowing community screenings to happen again, anywhere folks want to do them.

We can vote for the documentary in the Internet Movie Database - they said it's moved up to 37th in the list of 250 documentaries being voted upon!

We can also vote for Andy at www.change.org/changemakers A high vote means he gets to have a worldwide voice that goes out to millions of activists.

Anyone who hasn't yet cast their vote for him there can go vote - type Andy Abrahams Wilson into the search box. Let's move him from 5th page back to the first page again!

And the big weigh-in on the UOS film is happening still at the Entertainment Weekly site, re its Oscar contention status -

Vote for Andy at the change.org site if you haven't already, and also add a comment at EW if you haven't yet about your opinion of the real merits of the subject...

I think thanks to the December E-newsletter from UOS coming out, there's more activity again at the change.org site to vote Andy as a changemaker - he's on the first page again.

If you haven't yet voted, or passed the word along to others to do so, the site is www.change.org/changemakers -

put Andy Abrahams Wilson in the Search box and vote for him as a changemaker. Changemakers at this site get to spread their message to millions of activists.

Also, the Entertainment Weekly comment column keeps getting longer about how serious Lyme and the UOS film are. Hundreds of protest comments at this point.

If you haven't yet seen the scathing review and would like to comment, click on the thread here in Activism about the Entertainment Weekly panning Lyme and the film.
