Any clever lawyers out there who would be willing to offer up some free advice on bringing class action lawsuits against IDSA and any other organizations that support this group's positions on Lyme Disease?
It seems to me that the only time anything ever gets done in our society is if there is some kind of financial motivation. What are the chances of getting as many Lyme sufferers together to ruffle some feathers and maybe get some forward movement on changing Lyme guidelines in North America?
Think about the following two articles that highlight potentially criminal wrongdoings at IDSA in developing Lyme guidelines. These same guidelines are the prevailing orthodoxy throughout North America. Perhaps it's time for Lyme sufferers to step up and truly bring the fight to the demagogues who consistently pander to insurance companies and other special interest groups at the expense of the health and well being of ordinary people.
ANYONE KNOW ANY GOOD LAWYERS OUT THERE? Preferably someone with firsthand knowledge of Lyme Disease?
The CEO of the California Lyme Disease Association (CALDA) was a lawyer before she got sick, and I think her husband is a lawyer. It was thansk to her that the Conneticut Attorney General filed anti-trust violations agaisnt the IDSA, which resulted in the new IDSA hearings. And she testified at recent IDSA hearing, and has published articles on medical ethics issues and lyme
Its really not an easy thing, believe it or not, to file a class action law suit. Especially since the IDSA has that little, tiny paragraoh in their guidelines saying, these are just our guidelines blah, blah, blah.
It was really intensive work just to get the anti-trust violations agaisnt the IDSA.
But you could try contacting Lorraine Johnson at CALDA, she could explain this a lot better than I ever could

I've tried taking this to a personal injury lawyer. They all run a cost benefit analysis on these types of cases to see if there is any money to recover.
My lawyer told me they can't really find anyone to go after simply by following a money trail. Yes, the IDSA authors have patents but where is all the money they made?

If we could hire a high profile attorney and at least get it out in the media, we could get the story told and that would at least shed some light on the misconduct of some of these crooks.
This would have an effect on their reputation and that would be a start.

Whatever case gets brought needs to be very solid. A bad case could make things much worse.
Any forensic accountants out there? They could help with the money trail.
Any reporters out there to start some stories and help do the digging?

sounds great- I think there may be some sort of statute of limitations on how far back you can sue for damages. My time would peobably be up 1990.

Not now. The President just arrogantly sent a
letter to the legislators in NH. denying treatment for
over 4 weeks. I would say if they want them go
get them. I will gladly give for such a wonderful cause.

DOVER - With Lyme disease on the rise in New Hampshire, especially in local communities, a Wakefield lawmaker has joined the effort to protect doctors who provide patients stricken by the disease with long-term treatment.

That's where House Bill 1326 comes in, sponsored by Rep. Carol Vita, R-Wakefield, and Rep. Gary Daniels, R-Milford. The legislation says doctors cannot be subject to "disciplinary action solely for prescribing, administering, or dispensing long-term antibiotic therapy" in excess of four weeks. The Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs Committee is set to hear testimony today and scores of residents diagnosed with Lyme disease are expected to testify.
IDSA President Richard Whitley has written the committee in opposition to the bill.
