To shed light on the prevention and treatment of Lyme disease, the Poughkeepsie Journal is hosting a free public forum, “Get the Facts: Lyme Disease.”

You can watch the forum at PoughkeepsieJournal.com with a live stream beginning at 6:30 p.m. Video will be available later on demand.

The forum, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Nelly Goletti Theatre in the Student Center at Marist College will be your chance to get answers and learn strategies to improve your health. Registration for the forum is closed and there will be no walk-ups. Only registered guests will be admitted.

Dr. H, author and noted Lyme Disease expert, and Richard Ostfeld, a disease ecologist at the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies in Millbrook, will answer questions and discuss information you need to know. Journal investigative reporter Mary Beth Pfeiffer, whose landmark investigation into Lyme Disease inspired a law to help patients in New York, will moderate the forum.

Panelists

Richard S. Ostfeld is senior scientist at the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies, a not-for-profit research institution in Millbrook dedicated to providing the science behind environmental solutions. He is also adjunct professor at Rutgers University and the University of Connecticut.

Dr H is a board certified internist in private practice in Hyde Park. He is director of the Hudson Valley Healing Arts Center, an integrative medical center which combines classical and complementary approaches in the treatment of Lyme disease and other tick-borne disorders.
