At 11:57 this evening, the Massachusetts Senate voted to override the Governor's veto by a vote of 37-1.
The Lyme bill is now law, meaning that Massachusetts residents will have their oral, intramuscular, or IV antibiotics covered by their insurance for any length of time needed when prescribed by a licensed physician.
Thanks are due to the bill sponsors and cosponsors, to the Mass Lyme Legislative Task Force and the MA Lyme Coalition, Pat Smith, Phyllis Mervine, and the many, many patients, physicians, scientists, attorneys, and advocates in Massachusetts and across the country who stayed steadfast to make this happen.
There is always more to do, but tonight, this was a big, good thing. Thanks to all.
