Anyone use a juicer to hopefully strengthen the immune system? I have read over and over that a slow style juicer is best for preserving nutritents and enzymes so I picked up a Hurom Slow Juicer on sale over black friday.
It makes great juice but it seems to struggle to release the pulp from fibrous veggies like celeray and also same issue with ginger. Anyone have this experience with the Hurom?

I have a Jack LaLane juicer, had it for almost 4 years now. I really like it and I saw some new black ones at Wal-mart I want ( i have the white one that stains easily from carrots and beets).
Never heard of "slow juicing" to save nutrients and enzymes. Is this just a way to separate their product from their competition and generate sales?
Either way, you got a juicer and that's awesome. Veggie juices are so healing

No, I read lots of research on ths subject and was told by three different nutritionists to avoid the juicers that slice and dice and instead look for a slow juicer such as used in the Gerson protocol.
You need to drink the juice within a couple of minutes with the spinning kind. (Oxidation.) With the slower auger, the nutrients including enzymes are intact longer. I think the Greenstar's juice can be intact for a couple of days. I want the full mineral & vitamin value.

I learned something new. I always drink my juice right away just because, but still good to know for future purchases. Let us know how you like the juicer after you use it for a little while.
