I have had increased cellulite since I got sick. AT first I gained a lot of weight, about 20 pounds, which I lost within few months, without any diet change but I was much sicker when I started loosing weight which is not logical if cellulite is a build up of toxins... Has anybody got rid of her cellulite and how? I guess this subject only affects women...

I forgot my other question: did you feel better from loosing fat or did you lose fat because you were better? aha, i know, chicken and egg question...

I am well from Lyme and am a pilates instructor now. I am in really good shape and am really strong.
Even at my thinnest with Lyme (I got very thin, 15 pounds lighter than my picture on my blog), I had a layer of cellulite. I still have it.
I know there are a lot of toxins stored in my skin. I started skin brushing, but I can only do it once a week or more toxins start circulating than my body is able to process. I am hopeful that as I get rid of more of these toxins that the cellulite diminishes.
I plan on doing the weekly skin brushing, then increasing it until I can handle doing it daily.

Thank you six for this positive note... I have a question that you may be able to answer with your experience: when the toxins start circulating in the blood, do those toxins get stored in the lymphatic system or does the lymphatic system send toxins to the blood? I'm just not sure I understand what comes first or how both interact... Thanks again!

I don't really know. I think the lymph dumps both into the bloodstream and the gut in some way or another. Maybe someone else can elaborate more.

From a previous post of mine:
I believe it is part and parcel of the disease process that we have going on. Sure, some of it could be the natural process of aging coupled with hormones and genetics but mine showed up very suddenly and all over, even in places that one would not expect so I tend to think it is related to my infections.
I was in really great shape when this first happened to me. It even showed up on the top of my shoulders. This was during the time when I was becoming really ill.
I noticed that when I started levaquin it got much worse on my legs. Don't know if it is lyme or bart or something else but I personally think it is the effect that the bacteria have on our collagen.
Buhner mentions that borrelia eats collagen. Cellulite appears when connective tissues (collagen and elastin) beneath the skin become weak.
Connective tissue is made up of fibers and acts as an anchor between the muscles and the skin. It also forms the chambers that hold the fat that lies beneath the skin.
As a result of weak connective tissue, fat becomes displaced and the fibrous bands that are supposed to tether the skin down start to trap this displaced fat creating the appearance of cellulite.
Some think that toxins are part of the problem. Moving the lymph might help.

YUP me too! I was in incredible shape before I got sick and I'm still thin (5'7, 117). I have cellulite on my thighs and a little on my stomach.
I just started the Buhner protocol, which does address collagen being corrupted by Lyme. So hopefully this will help. I also have been brushing every day (i think thats key-- every day), and I get my lymphs moving as much as I can (hot/ cold showers, exercise, saunas).
I think its partially from the disease and partially from the loss of muscles I've had from not being able to work out hard core. In anycase, I know it will go away when I get better. Buts its soooo discouraging in the mean time.
