I also used 2 tsp of mepron but I was also using artemisin and was on avelox (a quinilone) used to treat malaria (babesia is related to it)

I know what you mean. I am on the same dose as you and my LLMD does not even suggest the art which I added myself. This morning I upped the dose on my own, but it gave me heartburn - probably did not eat enough with it.
I had a bad anxiety attack in the middle of last night. I have been getting more headaches too. I am trying to find another doctor.

Mepron at 1 tsp. daily is definitely keeping me symptom free...just had a relapse after being off for 3 weeks.
It's just scary to think maybe a higher dosage is needed to eradicate babesia. I am unable to increase the dosage on my own because I would be out of Mepron too soon for pharmacy refill.
My LLMD listens and is very open to my suggestoins...except Mepron dosage.

My doc is comfortable with higher dosing. I was at 2 tsp 2x/day, with other meds. I could handle it for only about 2 weeks before I got really bad acid reflux.
Now, with my relapse, I'm back at 1 tsp 2x/day. After much trial and error, I've learned that I get the best results when I combine with Zith. I'm now on Omnicef, Zith, Mepron. I pulse Artemisinin. I'm considering adding GSE, as many have said that hits Babs.
Are you able to exercise? I joined the YMCA last fall, and have been pretty consistent with exercising. I can't believe the difference it makes. If I skip the Y for a week, I feel substantially worse.
I'm now able to do Power Yoga (it kills me but I love it) 1x/week. On other days, I do regular yoga, swim, or lift weights.
I think Burrascano is right about exercise. You have to recover your immune system to get beyond these long-term infections.

I always wonder if dosing should also be related to weight. I mean 1 teaspoon to a 100 lb female isn't the same as to a 200 lb male

I wonder the same. I have lost 20 lbs and now only weigh 105 lbs at 5'6"...guess 1 tsp. would be a good dose for me.

BoxerMom...
I was exercising until a few weeks ago when I started relapsing. I have barely been able to stay out of bed since. I definitely need to get back into it though.

Oh i also just wanted to add that you shouldnt just increase your own meds without a doctor telling you what to do. Stuff uke mepron can mess up your liver.

I increased my dosage a couple of days ago - now taking two teaspoons in the morning and one at night. As my LLMD does not suggest liver tests but once every three months, I pretty much take care of myself (as usual). I get my liver tested on my own at the GP.
I also take Alpha Lipoic Acid away from the abx to help support the liver and clear out toxins. I researched it as someone posted not to take it with mepron but most LLMD do not suggest any interactions.
Dr. B says babesia duncani is so resistant you need to double what was previously used to treat it. He is the most respected authority so I trust his opinion.
I don't know why I get headaches. They are always in the middle of the night along with the hot flashing and sweats.
The LLMD said my severe acid reflux, that sent me to the hospital, was a herx but I know it was a side effect of Mepron. I was misdiagnosed with a heart attack and forced to stay over night. If only I had access to a computer I could have saved myself 12K!
Just so tired of it all.

Can a-babs be taken along with Mepron? I will ask my LLMD before adding it...just want to know if it's possible.
