Two months ago I had a negative Lyme PCR test but am clinically diagnosed and on Doxy. Today I got other lab results from my primary doctor that my LLMD wanted done.

My CD57 came back low, 30 versus the normal 60-360. I read that levels that low can be indicative of lyme. Alternately, it can be from the Epstein-Barr virus, which I tested positive for.

But then I read that a positive result on an Epstein-Barr test can actually be a false positive and the real culprit causing the false positive is Lyme.

So will my two results from those tests be a further indication to my LLMD that I have Lyme? I don't think my symptoms could possibly be from the Epstein-Barr virus.

Anyone have experience with this?

I'm sure there are a number of posts about this in the archives. IMO (and I had mono that touched my illness off) EBV is not too problematic in healthy people.

Almost everyone is exposed to EBV and generally when younger.

I feel that lyme opens a window for EBV so-to-speak and it reactivates.

I'm not sure on the point that EBV lowers CD-57. I haven't seen too much literature about this. CD-57 may be higher with EBV.

CD-57 is primarily low due to lyme.

Here is an excerpt from the 2010 ILADS conference takaways
http://www.betterhealthguy.com/joomla/blog/216-ilads-2010-conference-takeaways

"CD57 suppression may occur in XMRV as well as in Borrelia. (Editor's Note: There was also talk at this event of Chlamydia pneumoniae causing CD57 depression as well as a discussion of CD57 going down when one is in the midst of a Herxheimer or die-off reaction. Thus, it seems that CD57 may not be as specific for Borrelia as may have been previously believed. That said, I do still believe it is an important marker to help provide additional insight as to whether or not someone may have Lyme disease and when they may be able to stop antibiotic therapy with a lower possibility of relapse.) "

Notice there is nothing here on EBV. And these guys are THE lyme literate docs.
