i feel for you. my headache was really bad starting march 9th and continued for weeks. it never got below a level 8.

if i would have had a gun i'd have used it....

excedrin migraine seemed to help a little but not much. even vicodin wouldn't help.

i'd say back off and do epsom salts baths. they really seem to help me.

iv zith/clinda, oral art, mepron, septra.....

headache front to mid head, no neck pain.....

excedrin has me confused....excedrin migraine and extra have the same meds and dose in them but the migraine one is every 24 hrs and the extra every 6......how can that be???? neither have touched it all day anyway......

i do think its to do with the babs though because i am sweating and i feel like my stomach is squashing my chest...if that makes sense !!..

I recommend (prescription) Tramadol and add Tylenol (acetemenophin) or a generic for Ultracet (has both). It's related to codeine but is not addictive and is not a controlled substance.

This is the only thing that touches my Babs headaches. They are really intense - so intense I barely notice my foot pain and my stomach issues during herxes.

The herb butterbur seems to help hubby -- it is used for migraines. He orders the NSI generic brand from Vitacost. Also takes gingko and vinpocetine. Prickly ash tincture may also help.

Please be sure to take some sort of liver supportive herbs if you are taking over the counter or prescription pain meds. Things like dandelion root can be used instead of milk thistle if you are on mepron or malarone.

If I was you...here's what I learned the hard way.

Back off abx dose for a week
Detox every which way you can with lots of detox baths, chlorella, charcoal, good water( I found distilled water, a gallon a day for 3 days most helpful. Supply yourself with minerals after detox.
Rest, rest and rest
Liver support like milk thistle. Liver is the detoxing machine.

My husband is currently taking the generic imitrex pills and they are really helping alot. He has tried absolutely everything else and this is the only thing that has given relief.

daniel, I thought the headache sounded like a bart headache too.

Florence, my thread on detox is because sometimes these headaches are just a huge build-up of toxin waste and all the pain meds in the world won't stop...in fact more meds leads to more toxins.

my pain is front and top. not back. also jaw and ear pain.

it's true tho. prescription meds for pain made me worse.

i'm going to do humaworm and see if that helps.

it's not migraines, no aura, and symptoms don't seem to match but the pain sure feels like it.

this is the worst for me.

Be careful because humaworm can cause even more die off.

The first few times I did it I had a constant herx (mild) and somedays were very "flu" like with throwing up and diareah.

I recommend going slow and taking breaks if you do the humaworm.

Someone I know with lupus had migraines so bad that she thought there were bats flying around the room, the black spots in her vision field were that bad.

Headache Take Care, a herbal product by New Chapter Organics, helped her so much that she needed less pain medication.

For me, it takes my headaches away completely. But I don't have them as badly as you are describing.

It combines herbs from which aspirin used to be made. But there are counter-balancing constituents in the herbs that shield the gut from the irritating aspirin-like constituents, so the herbal product will not hurt the stomach like aspirin would.

Also has feverfew which is used for migraines.

You could also look in Linda Rector Page, ND's book Healthy Healing, for herbal/nutritional support and for acupressure points you can use on yourself. Hunt the web for headache acupressure points, you might be surprised, they can be helpful a lot of the time.

Rub lavender oil on your temples, can be helpful (not the whole piece of this though).

So sorry you are suffering so much. I "second" Pam's very wise message above about detox. Often headaches may be referred from abdominal issues or musculo-skeletal tension. Massage, self-massage, and taking care of digestive stuff can often help. Wise move, Pam!

Best wishes, CI

chiquita, when you've lived it and survived it and been blessed along the way with other good advisors....you pass it on.

By the way, you remind me of someone very special to me(others) from lymenet past. Keep up your great advice.
