Okay, well I switched over to a new high quality powder probiotic (Custom Probiotics) about a week ago.
Went from taking about 50 billion to 260 billion then jumped to 520 billion. Now I am bloated like a freakin balloon. Like huge in my gut and it is very uncomfortable - gross....
What would you make of this bloating? Too much pro.'s? yeast die off? just not right for my system?
Is it possible to take to high of a dose? Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated!!! TG

I use Custom Probiotics and think they are excellent. I only take 3 a day though of the 50 billion count. Can't even imagine that you would need 520 billion. Ditto to what Lymetoo said

I talked to Harry from Custom, and he said even if you are used to taking high dosages of probiotics, that you should start with the child's dose, and increase every 3 days until you feel good. You might want to call Harry and ask him. He is always so nice, and helpful too.

I use VSL#3 double strength at 900 billion and never had a problem with bloating except when the yeast flares due to eating bad or die off. The probiotic itself should not make you bloat that I am aware of. But I could be wrong.

- I agree. I take two of those packets a day. My bloating comes from improper intake of foods!!!

There is a product in some probiotics usually labeled or referred to as FOS. It has a long name that I can't begin to remember (might be listed that way too).
It is a food that the probiotics feed on, a sweetener sometimes used in other products. It has been known to cause major bloating, gas, etc.
I looked it up... Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) also sometimes called oligofructose or oligofructan.
If this isn't the case with your probiotic, the other concern is milk based probiotics.
I drink milk like it is going out of style (no allergies to it), yet milk based probiotics make me NOT happy. Not everyone will have a problem with it, but it is a thought to consider.
