My LLNP was ready for me to stop both Flagyl and Rifampin (and switch from Ceftin to Amoxy) at my last appt.
My CD 57 was up to an 88 and I have enough Flagyl/Amoxy for another couple of weeks and decided to continue w/ them so I could get to 5 full months of treatment and hopefully get my CD57 over a 100.
I know it isn't totally reliable but for me it has increased each month (started at a 48 then a 60 80 and now an 88).
I am having discomfort w/ yeast. She gave me a prescription for Nystantin. The pharmacist told me it is alcohol based so that if I take it while on Flagyl I will get sick.
Anyone take it while on Flagyl? I am torn--do I stop Flagyly now and focus on yeast or try and live w/ it for another week or two until I am done w/ my bottle?
I am not having any lyme/bart symptoms at this point...just yeast.

If your nystatin is a liquid and has alcohol in it as the pharmacist said, DO NOT take it with flagyl. A severe "antabuse" reaction will occur.
THe doc should have given you nystatin tablets. They can be taken with flagyl since the tablets have no alcohol in them.
But, if you already have yeast, nystatin will NOT get rid of it. Use nystatin to keep yeast away. Now you need a prescription for diflucan.
You can take diflucan and flagyl together also.
From page 15 of Burrascano, under the topic "Metronidazole (flagyl)":
"Important precautions: 1. Pregnancy while on Flagyl is not advised, as there is a risk of birth defects. 2. No alcohol consumption! A severe, "Antabuse" reaction will occur, consisting of severe nausea, flushing, headache, and other symptoms. 3. Yeast overgrowth is especially common. A strict anti-yeast regimen must be followed. 4. Flagyl can be irritative to the nervous system- in the short term, it may cause irritability, "spacey" feelings, etc...."
