An IV push is where they put a needle in, but don't attach it to a full IV bag like you are used to seeing. Instead, the nurse or doctor just attach a syringe and they slowly push the fluid in manually (instead of letting it drip in on its own for an hour or two). The IV push usually only takes about 15 minutes. My doc only does chelation via push. He doesnt use the long IV. I do believe they use a slightly different form of EDTA for push and for the slow IV, but I cant remember the difference.

Thank you Jlp38. Just sent you a pm.

Do you or anyone know why a dr. would choose IV chelation over the push?

Just curious if one is more effective than the other? Do you know why your dr. only does the push?

Thank you!

I remember my doc saying there were benefits to both but I dont remember what they were. I think it basically came down to the fact that any benefit of doing the long IV was so small that it wasnt worth the two hours of time.

I've done 9 of the IV push edta chelations so far with no affect whatsoever. No herx. But no better either. I have not retested my metals yet so I don't know if my levels have come down or not. I assume they have but probably just not enough. My doc originally said I would need to do 30 treatments, so I figure I just havent done enough yet.

I wasnt on any meds when I did it.

Any other thoughts on why a dr. would recommend the push over the longer version?

Monthly I do an IV push DMPS chelation. I have done 18 so far for Mercury Clean up. On the last two I actually felt better afterward than before the treatment. Feeling lasts for about 3 hours. I drink a lot of water before hand to escort the metals out. Total time is about 8 to 10 minutes for 5 CC's. Cost is $85.

The doc estimated 25 to 30 treatments before I would be through. I will do maybe two more before my next doctor's data heavy metal test. I have some lead also so I will do some EDTA as well.

My son gets an IV drip the day after his DMPS chleation for vitamin replacement. Takes about 45 minutes and he feels fantastic afterward for about 2 days. Cost is $125.

The doc is using the Dr K protocol for heavy metal detox from 4 to 5 years ago. Not sure that it has changed. I do not pay to get the Vitamin IV (save the money) so she tells me to double up on my vits and minerals. However I do not feel as good as my son does the next day!

All the Best, MattH

when I was chelating my heavy metals I did an IV and they did a DMPS "push" at the end.

the IV contained Vitamin C as well as Magnesium and other vitamins and minerals.
