i leave dallas at 11 and don't get into dayton until 6:30 in the evening.
my vsl and theralac need to be refrigerated. i do have plenty of align, culturelle, and something else which doesn't need to be.
should i just leave the expensive stuff at home in the fridge and take the other stuff?
i'd hate for it go bad. i could just double up on the dosage of the other stuff and get it at a store up there if i run out.
so how long can you let this vsl and theralac go without being refrigerated??

You could use a cold pack and pack it in an individual container that will fit in your luggage.

yes, the altitude would keep it cool .. but what about in between??
Theralac can go unrefrigerated for a few days, so take that and the others. VSL would probably be OK too.. it would just lose some strength .. it has TONS!!
but personally, I would take everything but the VSL myself.

cold pack = those little packets you can freeze .. you can get them at Walgreen's. But .. make sure they are OK with the TSA.

hmm, i think i'll take the theralac, phillips, culturelle and align.
that should be enough. i do have acidolphilus.
lor, if they ever check my baggage with all my pills, they'll have a field day. better to leave all my vitamins at home.
i have a fishing lure compartment case divided into probably 12 compartments filled with vitamins. they'd have a fit...

If you're going to stay at your sisters house for a couple weeks just order a new bottle of VSL#3 and have them ship it to her house. If you order it directly from the manufacturer they send it on ice second day air.

Another thought, order an extra bottle for your sister! Encourage her to try it while you are visiting. If she tries the VSL, sees that it helps her diarrhea symptoms, she may continue taking it when you go back home.

now joe dear, you forget we're TEXANS.....
his "tackle box" is the size of my american tourister luggage!!! it sits on the floor and when you open it, these three shelves all come up with "compartments" on it. then these cases sit on the bottom and have more compartments.
nope, my little plastic case is not a "tackle box"....besides a lot of people call my little case a tackle box, but when you have them all sizes and shapes like he does, i never know which one he wants...

I carried kefir culture on my carry-on (3oz container) through 3 different countries before, and made fresh kefir at each stay. No refrigeration, no problem.

randi .. those pills need to be in their original bottles so they can see what the pills are. You don't want them confiscated.

Hi folks:
until this past January, I used to travel about 70% of the time for work. I'm talking both domestically and abroad.
I have NEVER had an issue with pills in my luggage. Both in their pill bottles or in ziploc baggies...even when traveling internationally.
Here is what I would do (Having done this myself several times) Theralac and VSL3 are actually fine without refridgeration for several days. So..if you are traveling for a day, they won't be affected too badly provided you can refridgerate them once you arrive.
If I was going on a trip, I would either put the exact amount of pills I would need for the trip in a ziploc baggie or in an extra Theralac or VSL bottle (I would keep empty bottles). This is to ensure the entire bottle isn't exposed to room temperature if it doesn't have to be.
When I woudl go to Asia for a week, I would typically check my pills in my luggage. This was usually 2 gallon sized ziploc baggies stuffed full of pill bottles and a few "loose" sandwhich-sized ziploc baggies inside. I would then have several ziploc baggies of pills inside my carryon. This allows me to take pills when I need to while I travel.
So...in my experience, It isn't a problem traveling with medications / vitamins/ supplements in your luggage. I've done it dozens of times.
