My Hemoglobin last month was 12.5

This month it is 11.8

I have had a hysterectomy last year... so no periods.

No other sources of bleeding (or at least that I am aware of).

Dr is wondering whats going on.

I'm wondering if its just a lab variation... same lab ran the tests.

Also, I really don't think the variation is that big of a deal, but the dr had his nurse call to talk to me about it. I think they forgot that I was coming in to see him tomorrow.

I am normally somewhat anemic... just the way I am... I have had gastric bypass about 5yrs ago.

What do you think? Should I be concerned? Ideas as to causes? I'm sure I don't have internal bleeding, so that's not it. Would need to be something not quite so dramatic.

More muscular, cognitive, nerve issues than joints. Facial droop and blurred vision.

I always run right at the cutoff (and I supplement!). When I would get below 12, they would freak. When I'd be at 12 or higher, all was good. I think it's likely they're freaking just because it's a bit below range.

I had to have my hemoglobin tested very often during pregnancy, and that's how they were ..... it would fluctuate like that, but they considered it perfect if it was 12.1 and practically and emergency situation if it was 11.9. [dizzy]

My guess is that babesia is causing this.

I'm already taking twice the daily percent of iron that recommended. So I am supplementing...
I believe thats 36mg of iron a day.

Bea... Ive wondered if I have babs and bart... but haven't tested or treated for either.. although I have symptoms of both.

I will bring that up to my dr when I see him tomorrow.

Is there any significant research out there linking babesia with iron defecincy (sp)
