Am I correct that Omnicef (Cefdir) is strictly for Lyme, or is it possible that it can hit any co infections also? (I think my LLMD may have abandoned me due to some controversy with Anti Lyme warriers)
thanks,
Beagle

I believe it is only for lyme. What are Anti Lyme Warriers?

Do you mean your doctor is going to stop being an LLMD or that he is just dropping YOU as a patient?

By Anti Lyme Warriers, I mean the Infectious Disease Doctors from Partners in Newton, MA that marched to the State House last summer to try and stop new legislation that would allow doctors to treat Lyme and co's long term what ever way they see fit without risking disciplinary measures from the Board. The legislation passed last year, but my PCP works with those guys and when I finally gave in and saw the ID Doc (anti lyme warrier) he immediately stated "If you have anything from Igenex Lab, don' even give it to me I don't want to see it." (I didn't even have anything from Igenex, never tested there.)
I have complication with knee replacement done in September. Anti Lyme doc wants me off all antibiotics for 3 - 4 weeks to tap knee for infection. But when I tried to go off after 9 days I was so sick I could not even lift my head, so fear going off again. Then Lyme Literate Doc seemed to cave in to the big guys and simply said go off the antibiotics. No mention of future appointments - I think it was a matter of fear that if knee was infected Lyme Doc did not want to be responsible for prescribing antibiotics which mask possible TKR infection. That's all I meant about being abandoned by Lyme Doc.
But now I'm on my own for a month or two - that's when it will be feasable for me to go off meds and risk being bedridden sick again - I live alone.
Hence, my original question about Omnicef. My Lyme Immune Id test (new, from Neuro Science) just came back as "current infection with Borreiia b. waning. Must consider other pathogens" That tells me Bartonella, Babs, etc. because I am still sick. but get even sicker off antibiotics. I have Omnicef and Zithro here. Don't want to self treat, but have no choice for right now.
Was kind of hoping Omnicef could touch the co infections a bit, though I'm probably grasping at straws....hoping.

Can you try taking some herbals for potential co-infections in the meantime?

I'm currently taking 900mg of omnicef a day, but I don't think that it hits any of the co-infections. Wish I could be more helpful.
Good Luck!

wonder if we see the same llmd? I was only on omnicef for five months. I saw a neurologist for brain lesion upon my llmd's referral. When she tested me through stonybrook she said I had not bands on western blot and stop all abx before I destroy my organs.
At my next LLMD visit I had a miracle cure! He read her results (even though I had bands on igenex) and said she is probably right. I am no better...infact worse than when I started in dec. I think they are afraid of the conflict.
