Posted last month about feeling badly after b12 infection. Didn't seem like many people had expereienced the same thing.
Chalked it up to coincidence.....but just got another injection and again I feel foggy, irritable, and confused. Last month I was feeling good when I went in to the docs and felt worse after (after the b12 injection). Haven't really recovered since though.
She tried it again today and the same thing...foggy, dizzy cranky irritable confused a few hours after the injection.
I seriously doubt it coincidence and now I am a little scared. Anyone experience this or know why it would not only not help, but also make me feel worse?

It could be a preservative in the b12 that you are reacting to. If it makes you feel worse, than it might be a very good idea to discontinue it, in case you are having an allergic reaction, or side effect.

What form of Vitamin B12 is being injected? If it is cyanocobolamin, some people are sensitive to the cyano- part of the B12. There are other forms. You might ask about getting hydroxocobolamin or methylcobolamin and seeing if those forms work better for you.
Also, have you tried oral or nasal B12?

I really didn't know that there were different forms. She has me on oral B12 active, not sure how potent that is compared to the injections.
I was sooooo hoping for something to give me energy or at least make me feel a little better. So disappointed it didn't.
I will definitely mention that it was not a coincidence last month...as today I felt badly too.
I have not heard of nasal b12.
I am sure you are right about preservatives. I know that chemicals give me headaches etc. I do really badly on artificial sweeteners (can't stand them) and am very sensitive to perfumes etc. I am sure there is something to the additives in the injection.

Hi, I have had 5 injections total and this week I'm feeling much more tired! I don't know if it's from the B 12 injections (mine are hydroxocobolamin) or if it's from my over doing it last week. I spent the week volunteering in the kitchen at Vacation Bible School and was on my feet working 5 hours a day 5 days a week, then we took the kids shopping, movies, swimming, etc... Something I have not done in YEARS! I'll give it another week and see if this fatigue let up or I'm going to have to think the B12 is the culprit! I have not start anything else besides this so nothing has changed in my routine. I was expect a burst of energy but instead I'm dragging butt.

I tried 1 B12 shot and it made me irritable and made the area near the injection tingly. So I didn't try again.

dogmom Yes, that is how I feel as well. The injection area didn't really bother me. Glad to know I am not the only one.

Do you know if you were low in B12 before starting the injections? Do you know if you're low in folic acid as well? Have you seen the long thread I recently posted in Medical all about B12 and folic acid? In that thread it tells you that many people who have been deficient in B12 will often feel worse when initiating therapy...increase in brain fog...dizziness....nerve pain....
If you cannot tolerate the B12 injections, you may try methylcobalamin sublinguals on a daily basis to raise your levels...Recent studies have shown these can be as effective as B12 shots....
Yes, I agree with the posters about as well that you might want to determine if you're having allergic reactions to it....

You probably cannot tolerate Methyl and the others -
I have the same problem, some people cannot metabolize them.
You need hydroxy B 12 shots every day and you will feel great. It is a complicated process in your liver, you do not need to understand - just use hydroxy.
You also cannot take regular folate. Pm if you want to take folate.
