I was happily making great progress on treatment until tuesday night, all the sudden I started experiencing severe neck pain and back pain.

By yesterday, it was way worse and I couldn't lie down, sit down, stand or do anything to get comfortable - sadly on my 27th wedding anniversary too.

Not sure if this is a flare or herx. I started taking mepron with malarone on tuesday and my LLMD added bactrim too - could this be a herx?

I would think it is!! I know my babesia herxes used to put me down like that. (well, actually had that happen ONE time from babesia) I learned to back off when I began to herx hard.

Hope it lets up soon. Call your dr and see if it's OK to back off the meds for a day or two.

Thank you Lymetoo for sharing that. I haven't had any real herxes from treating babesia yet. I guess this could be a good sign.

Yep I agree I just backed down on my Mepron last Monday. And still my upper/lower neck and mid back pain is extreme. Has to b a herx. Seems like I get them every 7 days then I usual back off let the herx clear.
