There are ads on local TV about Actos causing all kinds of problems. It's ads for lawyers!

I took it for 4 years. It caused some edema mostly around my ankles. My doctor suspected that it caused weight gain but I can't tell if the gain was from infection - die off - or actos. I lost very little when I went off.
It helped me to be able to tolerate cholestyramine. I felt better on it but I didn't want to stay on due to long term use risks.
I did develop diabetes within 6 months of going off actos. Probably just a coinicidence since I had been perdiabetic for years but it does make me wonder...

Do you think it is worth the risk for me to take? I guess if the doctor is still prescribing it....
I don't need help gaining weight.....
this is all so frustrating. I don't want to take cholestyramine either.

My husband was on Actos by his PA but when he saw the endo. he took him off right away.. Said it would cause weight gain and a lot of other side effects.. The endo. was so against it but he was being treated for diabetes.
My husband did have swelling of his ankles but wasn't on it long.
