Since starting to use an infrared sauna (1 month ago) I've become noticeably thinner.

My scale weight is still the same (143)but I'm definitely thinner (glutes, legs, chest)

Could the sauna be detoxing sodium @ the cellular level and causing me to lose a lot of water weight?

What could I be shedding here?

Some theorize that the infrared sauna is a cardiovscular workout .... maybe that has something to do with it???

It's interesting because even on Amazon they advertise it as the following...

***Sauna Dome Infrared Dry Heat Carbon & Ceramic FIR FAR Portable Detox Lose Weight - New**

I'm the only one losing weight with these? lol

But you said you're not losing weight? That's the puzzling part. If you were losing weight, I'd say it's the cardiovascular and calorie burning part of it, but you say you're the same weight but smaller ... that's puzzling!

I know when I am sitting in the sauna, my heart rate is up, so there has to be a cardiovascular element?

Yes, there's definitely a cardiovascular element. When the body heats up, the blood vessels dilate, so the heart has to work harder to maintain blood pressure.

Did I describe that correctly?

Canefan,

I saw a you tube clip where a weight loss plan was promoting the portable IFR saunas for weight loss on a fox news segment. They were talking about all the calories you could burn with 30 minutes of use.
They were claiming one could burn up to 600 calories in thirty minutes best of my memory.

I recently got one and love it. There is no way I could work up that type of sweat without it. Great detox method and I do it a little before bedtime as it really relaxes me.

I definately lose weight when I sauna regularly. My heart rates is elevated and it stays elevated until I cool down.

It's a very nice side effect! Not just water weight either.

If I sauna (45 min at apx 138 degrees) 4 to 5 times in a week I lose several pounds and I also feel very clean and healthy.

To be honest I don't know the exact temp. I just ordered the portable one from national pools that others on here use and the heat gauge is 1-5. 4 is as much heat that I want for 20 minutes.

Cane,

Most lyme patients gain weight so many might trade places with you. As the old saying goes you can never be too thin or too rich.

Hopeforhealth,

If you use the search feature and type in saunas in topic section under medical questions you will find a lot of prior conversations about Saumas and recently some have gotten the Costco one. Then PM them and get their opinion. Seems I get some of my best info out of the search feature.

The search feature may be old news to you but the Costco one has been brought up recently.

Thanks both canfan and jarjar.

I will search the saunas, I'm trying to delegate some of the research to my hubby. I'm also looking into PE-1 which requires a lot of time researching.

Also have two little ones I'm trying to keep up with, maybe why I'm so thin?

Yes parasites, I have had humaworm in the cupboard for 6 months, Don't know why but I'm scared to try it. I know I should because I also have terrible neuropathy. Thank you for reminding me.

Can I just start taking humaworm and continue all other treatments? Abx, metal chelation, ldn, b12, etc. I did mention to my LLMD before but he didn't seem to think it was playing a major factor in my illness.

I'm also supposed to start Levaquin......YIKES!

thanks again
