I get so confused when it comes to artemesia for babesia and the herb to purchase. There is wormwood and artemesin.
We used Zhang's artemesia for 8 months and then switched to Zhang's artemesia2. Two months ago we switched to Researched Nutritionals brand of Artemesia POS. All purchases with doctor approval.
It seems like the three of us are not herxing anymore with it. I would like to get the best product to kill off babesia and get done with it.
After watching the ILADS conference, I know we want to be hitting artemesia as hard as we can.
I have one child on malarone and one on coartem along with 10 days of artemesia.
Any advice? Product suggestions?

Kari, Do you have an LLMD? what brand does he suggest? My daughters LLMD has just started her on a liposmal artemisinin that he has a pharmacy put it in a capsule instead of using the tincture plus there are other ingredients in it.
He is pulsing it. 5 days on 2 days off for 3 weeks out of the month.

Yes, we see an ILADS doctor. He suggested Zhang's in the beginning, and then Researched Nutritionals. It seems like there had been talk of something more powerful.
My insurance covers compounded medicines. I wonder if liposmal would be an option for us. I am going to google it. Thanks!

Just found this at another forum.
I asked around to see if liposomal artemisinin has ever been done. Artemisinin is a stellar cancer therapy by itself. Throw in liposomes and you completely overcome the absorption problems, get intreacellular penetration, AND liposomes selectively target tumors.
When injected, conventional liposomal artemisinin lasts 3 times as long as regular artemisinin. Considering that even less regular artemisinin would be in the blood had it been taken orally, this is much more than a 3 fold improvement. Factor in intracellular delivery and targeting of tumors, and you got a stellar cancer treatment. They could only get 70% encapsulation, so it will taste bad however you do it.
Artemisinin is fat soluble. I bet this could be done at home. You may need to warm the lecithin to 110 degrees first, then mix with the artemisinin. Then immediately refrig. Dr. Donsbach says you should heat the phospholipids to 110, then apply a shear (ultrasonic mixing), then quickly cool it to do liposomal anything. It would probably be better to use the larger ultrasonic mixer.
Dr. K. is doing liposomal artemisinin for lyme just by blending phospholipids.

Dr Zhang goes to China a few times during the year to oversea the growing of artmesia.
His product is the puriest of the pure, from what I understand from my doctor. He will not let me use another product.

I guess it depends on the form you want to get. I believe they all have different functions. Some prefer the whole herb, some use arsenuate (spelling?) or artemesinin.
They also are effected by other things like iron, butyrex, & grapefruit. I think Dr. Z adds another herb to his formula.
There a doctor in Florida who we aren't supposed to mention here that has written a couple of books on the subject, too.

Sparkle i think you hit the nail on the head, many companies carry good quality Art. its sorta hard to give something in its place it looks, smells and tastes so close to being the same.

I have read of some doing Allergy Research Group. I have checked into it and the price is pretty good.
