this is driving me nuts. does it ever go away???

one day back many years ago a doc put me on doxy and i was standing at the sink. all of a sudden i got a massive headache and then ping....really bad ear ringing. ever since then it has gotten worse, some days better, but progressively worse.

the doxy apparently brought it out and it's never gone away.

please tell me it will.

I have had it for 1 1/2 years. Started by high doses of prednisone. It has varying degrees of loudness, but always there. I do not need a quiet room to hear it. I can hear it over the sound of my family (and they are ALL very loud!!) I wish I knew if it was going away, but I have no idea.

Mine comes and goes. It was azithromycin that did it for me.

Sigh.....

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEsqueakityEEEEEEEringpingityEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeek!!!

I sometimes describe it to TxC' as being a constant ringing whistling alarm w/ squeaky ball-bearings in a fitting gone bad...never stops.

Well ,once it did for about 90 seconds a few years back...and then it hit worse than ever.

it's no fun that's for sure...

Systemic Oral Enzymes for Tinnitus

I also was suffering inflammation in my ears and took Wobenzym N as a self-experiment to see how my body responded. My hearing in the higher ranges was significantly improved. I was noise-free within three months.

You need to take systemic enzymes on an empty stomach so that they will pass into the intestines intact. (They have an acid resistant coating.)
There they dissolve, and about 25% of the total get absorbed into the body.
The rest of it will help to digest food.

I take systemic enzymes when I get up after sleeping.
I began with a low dose and ramped up to twelve tablets daily.

I wait at least 30 to 45 minutes before eating.
Usually I sit and read and have a glass of iced tea...when my stomach is growling and I'm hungry, I know it is empty again...the tablets have passed through the valve into the small intestines.

It's okay to take other meds at the same time, but not food, as that will trigger digestive acid in the stomach.

When I first started, I did not notice results with Serrapeptase, and I moved on to try other systemic enzymes.
However, now I realize that a larger dose may have worked.

If you look for articles about Wobenzym, you'll find references to doctors prescribing large doses to their patients "to force the therapeutic response."
After several years of taking twelve tablets daily, I increased my dose to 20 tablets and experienced greater pain relief.

My first sign that it was working was that my headache pain and pressure was reduced.
Omg, what a miracle. I had had a continuous headache for years.

It also reduced the body and joint pain.
I didn't realize how much, until I stopped taking it and it all came back.

Wobenzym works for some people, Vitalzyme works for others.
Another member here told me that a high dose of Serrapeptase worked for him.

If you can manage to take the enzymes more than once daily, more power to you.
My schedule is irregular, and I'm not willing to starve myself to be sure of an empty stomach.

Carol - thanks for that link. I have never heard of taking enzymes for Tinnitus. Unfortunately, I have recently acquired Tinnitus from all of the drugs.

So, are you saying that you take 12 Wobenzymes a day?!

Did you have Tinnitus?

I have mild tinnitus.
I'm presently taking 20 tablets of Wobenzym daily.

Wobenzym and other systemic enzymes reduce inflammation and reduce fibrin.
This increases oxygen and nutrients to the cells.

When I first began taking Wobenzym, I had no idea what was going to happen.
I was DELIGHTED to find that I no longer woke up every day with a splitting headache.

You can also take magnesium and fish oil to reduce tinnitus.

i feel you! i constantly have what sounds like a loud washing machine in my right ear... it drives me insane!

i've had it since july...

the weird thing is, if i push right underneath my ear (which hurts really bad) the super loud swooshing completely stops!

i can't live my life pushing my finger into my neck all the time though, especially when it hurts to bad.

it's just so weird, i don't get it!

i asked my llmd for help, and he said to go see an ear, nose, and throat specialist, even though everyone here says that is pointless.

I was able to stop my tinnitus for 6 hours at a time, which was still a miraculous experience, that the world could be so quiet!

It happened after I did treatments with a PEMF machine - pulsed electromagnetic machine - we hold a white coil near us while the machine sends out audible electromagnetic clicks. It's supposed to restore the body's energy.

Chiros and PTs may have them. The one I used was 400-700 gauss strength.

I asked a top LLMD here about it and he said it probably quieted down the nerves.
