So My husband was taken off Rocephan IV due to elevated Liver Enzymes. After 2 1/2 weeks, his enzymes returned to normal. he was started on Claforan, 1 g every 8 hours. Hes had 12 doses and once again, the enzymes are starting to elevate again. Does anyone have experience with this? Are there other IV drugs? Each time, he has started feeling better. Then he has to stop the meds. Very frustrating

My ALT got up to 281! Watch your gallbladder on IV Rocephin. I had to have emergency gallbladder surgery. Glutathione is a great thing to take for protection. It made my levels go back down to the 40's.

Mine are almost the same 40 and 80. My md told me to keep going but your liver is nothing to mess around with.
When I did iv rocephin they went up to 800 and 900. I obviously stopped immediately. That was a different md.
My newer md put me on claforan because it is mainly flushed out by the kidneys.
I am also doing iv glutithione and it really helps.
Maybe you can talk to your husbands md and see what they think about elevated liver enzymes and herxing. Maybe his bacteria load is really high and the md is being careful. Nothing wrong with that but very frustrating!
