Are you saying it might bring our shingles, or it did bring out shingles? Shingles is a virus and I've never heard of FIR detoxing affecting a virus that lives in the nervous system.

Robin, if you have Shingles is it good or bad to use a sauna. Sorry, I should have worded it differently.
I am not looking to detox Shingles. I want to know if the heat will affect Shingles, in any negative way.

I have read accounts on line that it helps some with shingles pain. I think I would go low heat and slow to see how you do. Ultimately I think a doc would be the best to answer this. Sorry I don't have more info.

The herpes viruses live in the spinal cord/nervous system.
Elaine, my guess would be that FIR would not affect them, but I am not a doctor, and you might consider just going slowly with the heat and see how you do.

- I'm not sure about the heat, I think it could make it feel worse as with infection, the nerve are hot, inflamed and spew their toxins (that makes the rash/lesions).
At least with Chinese medicine, the idea would be to offer cooling herbs to calm down the hot, flaming nerve tissue.
So, even a low-heat infrared sauna might be too much heat.
On the other hand, I can see how it could help bring it to the surface, etc. It may really help move out the toxins and increase circulation for healing.
I think an infrared LAMP, the LIGHT itself would be best for the rash / inflamed or scared surface
I would feel more comfortable if you could get expert opinions about this.
SPREADING - if rash lesions are "fresh" ?
Be very careful, of course, with any shedding of skin or the ooze from the shingles lesions.
If any gets onto the wood, that could pose long-term problems.
If anyone else touches that, they could get shingles. Basically, the same careful procedures your doctor told you for bathroom / towel use, etc. so that it does not spread to others.
I also don't know how long it can live on surfaces or if any liquid from a lesion would get onto the wood, what all that entails.
Sweat that would pass over the lesions and then might drip on any surface could also pose a risk.

- Olive Leaf Extract is a very nice herb that is cooling in nature and has many wonderful properties. It helped be get past what might have been shingles on my lips this past summer.
Seagate is the best brand.
As you are in a sunny area, I hope you can get some sunlight onto the rash area - and into your eyes without any sunglasses or contact lenses. Or, rather the daylight, not direct sunlight, of course but natural light into our eyes for 20 minutes a day is very important. -
