My daughter (14) woke with a fever 100.8. She is very sick. Except for the onset of her illness, her temp has consistently been 97ish.
Trying to get her fever down soaking in cool water.
This is scary, but I don't feel doctors/hospital here would be helpful. LLMD is hundreds of miles away. She recommends this approach. Next appt a couple weeks away.
Why would the fever appear suddenly? Virus maybe? Any thoughts?

It is probably a virus. I had the same thing. For me it started with bloating and then vomiting followed by stomach cramps and indigestion. Then two weeks later I got a fever.
I don't know if all of that was from the same bug or different bugs but I am so glad it is finally over (knock on wood). I hope your daughter feels better soon. My fever lasted about five days and I was exhausted.
