Can someone recommend a good brand of curcumin? Does it help with your pain and inflammation? Thank you!

NOW brand .. YES!

I have bought cheap brands only to have them cause acid reflux. NOW is pretty easy on the stomach.

I buy mine at Swanson's Vitamins online.

Tutu is right about some causing acid reflux.

Gallbladder disease? It's best to avoid curcumin (which is a concentrate extract). Instead use the less strong Turmeric, starting with low dose.

There is one stain of curcumin that is better if you have babesia. It's not the kind in most supplements (curcuma longa). While that is helpful, of course . . .

Best for babesia: Curcuma zedoaria

My file notes for that are stuck in my ailing iMac. But a few good cross searches should get you where you need to go - and maybe others will post sources & links for where to obtain Curcuma zedoaria.

That's funny. It was a cheap brand of Turmeric that caused the acid reflux.

Buhner told me that Curcumin Xanthorhizza is best for Babesia, however if you can't get it Curcumin Longa will make a good substitute.

It works well for inflammation and I find it even helps migraines..

Do people take the standardized extract or the actual herb...? Just curious. I bought some of the standardized extract & I'm going to make my own caps. I haven't gotten it yet.

I had to give it some thought as to whether to get the actual herb or the extract.

Thank you. I can't stand this pain in my spine, neck and head and can't stand to take antiseizure meds, so I'm kind of stuck and don't know what my options are.

The only thing that has noticeably helped my pain is minocycline and I only take that for one week out of the month. I may ask my LLMD if I can take it everyday for pain management.

Other than that, I have read about curcumin and think perhaps this may help. When I take plain old advil, it does seem to help, but it really shifts my pain around, doesn't completely get rid of it, but it makes it slightly more bearable.

I am thinking it is just inflammation and that is why advil helps alleviate it a bit...same with minocycline. My pain comes in waves/flares. It is the crumble into a pile on my knees kind of pain...except I am trying to walk around and do things like a healthy person.

Hoping curcumin does the trick!

Forgot to mention I have been treating for 17 months now (aggressive, but pulsing) and my pain is still so bad. [Frown] I have gotten rid of some other major problems, but the pain is not leaving. Not a good sign.

Maybe you need to forget about pulsing as a method of treatment. It's not for everyone. Mino everyday should not be a problem for an LLMD.

PS.. I take one curcumin at breakfast and one at supper

Lulu, thank you for that info. Do you recommend tincture or powder? Did you take it for Babesia? If so, how much did you take daily?

Maybe you can ask your doctor for some pain meds? Alot of people go undermedicated with chronic pain & there's no reason to suffer.

I'm all for natural or alternative medicine & healing with herbs & supplements but chronic pain not easy. It drains you of energy for living.

I can relate. It's not a good day when you have to accept that it's something that you have to deal with. I fight it every day but I've been ill for 17 years now. It's no fun.

The pain meds do make life easier.

Oh no, 17 years. I am so sorry!! It has been 3 for me of this excrutiating pain - always in my spine, neck and head. I have joint pain too, but this is nerve pain and it is so much worse than joint...for me at least.

I have many other problems too. They all cycle - one day pain, the next balance, the next headache, the next my right leg goes out on me. It is constant.

Anyway, I feel like the pain meds come with consequences and I just don't want to deal with side effects or withdrawal. i've been there, done that with the benzos and it was horrific for me.

I need a magic pill with no side effects!! I am thinking of trying LDN next as I hear such great things about it...however, my LLMD said it helps some, but doesn't help others.

Maybe curcumin will help take the edge off. Thank you for the brands!

17Hens, we take the tincture.. my daughter uses it for Babesia and I use it for inflammation and migraines. I use 15 drops 2 times a day and she uses 30 drops 2 times a day... We don't use this continually but more so as needed for symptoms.

I never tried benzos but the pain meds did help me to function. I never felt addicted to them. I would only take a very small amount to help me to feel "normal". There's alot of misconception about pain meds.

Being in chronic pain can be horrific. It really wears you down & causes anxiety. I know how it is - one day it's one thing & the next it's something else. It's hard never knowing how I will feel tomorrow.

Hope you find something that helps.

Have you guys tried Curamin? It was recommended to me as an excellent painkiller, but it did not do much for me. But I tried it only occasionally. Today I read it should be taken regularly to work. So I wonder if anyone has any experience?

brand name.. it's a mixture of curcumin, bromelain, etc

i think the problem is that it doesn't contain a high enough dosage of the individual ingredients
