Anyone here dx'ed with PCOS? My symptoms are acne, a few stray facial hairs, having a hard time losing weight. I hear these are some symptoms of it. I am on birth control pills and spironolactone for it. What did you do to control it?

Not sure what PCOS is but I have acne, LONG stray hairs that I constantly pluck off my chin and neck and I am having a terrible time trying to lose weight. Which has really never been a problem for me. I didn't know all this had a name. An answer for you from someone may help me also.

Make sure when your doctor monitors your hormone levels that they also check your hemoglobin A1C levels.
People with PCOS tend to have a problem with insulin resistance, this can put you at risk for developing diabetes later on in life. Hemoglobin A1C is the best measure of long term blood sugar control.
Besides the OCP and spironolactone, some people also need to be on metformin to control the insulin resistance/ blood sugar symptoms.
Talk with your doctor, they will know best.
My sister has PCOS. She didn't know she had it until she was 26. Was able to lose weight while on OCP's. Stopped the pill and gained all the weight back while following her same healthy diet and lifestyle. She was so upset and distraught... Found out she was infertile. Eventually learned it was PCOS. Thank God it's treatable

Get your thyroid and prolactin tested, too. Both of those can cause PCOS symptoms. What you're taking now should control the higher androgen levels, but as sammy said, be sure to test for insulin resistance, too.
