My lymph nodes in th right side of my. Groin area are so swollen and so painful. I am REALLY scared about this right now. I made an appointment for Monday to see the Gyno but I don't even know if that is the right doctor to see for this? Please advise.
Also, has anyone else had this? I looked on the internet and am scared about the results I saw.

Found this:
Q - I've just noticed in the past few days what appears to be one swollen lymph node on the right side of my groin area (inguinal area). I am female. It isn't very big and is not painful. I have no other swollen lymph nodes and no other symptoms. I am worried this is lymphoma or some other type of cancer. What are the odds? I am a 30 year-old otherwise healthy white female. I'm scared and haven't been to my doc yet as I just discovered this.
A - Swollen lymph nodes are an indication that your body is fighting off an infection. This could be a minor infection, in which case, the lymph nodes will go back to normal soon. I get swollen lymph nodes behind/below my ears all the time but they always go away. When to see a doctor Some swollen lymph nodes return to normal when the underlying condition, such as a cold, resolves. However, see your doctor if you're concerned or if your swollen lymph nodes:
Have appeared for no apparent reason Continue to enlarge, or have been present for more than two weeks Feel hard or fixed Are accompanied by fever, night sweats, or unexplained weight loss Are accompanied by a sore throat or by difficulty swallowing or breathing Are red, warm and tender
Q - Thank you for the reply. I have no other symptoms as I feel great. I just noticed the swollen gland in the groin area while showering otherwise I may not have known it was there. So what are the possibilities it's lymphoma? I'm a 30 year old female with no other health concerns and the only cancer that has occurred in my family is colon. Thanks
A - I was going to give you a list of symptoms of lymhoma but, since the lymph nodes are all over the body they affect too many areas and cause too many symptoms to list. If you're truly worried about lymphoma, your best bet is to get checked out by your doctor. I have no idea if your age has any influence on this disease or not.
_________________________________________________ Nodes are generally considered to be normal if they are up to 1 cm in diameter; however, some authors suggest that inguinal nodes larger than 1.5 cm should be considered abnormal.
If it is painful or tender this indicate infection or inflammation which will subside after recovery.
Swollen or enlarged lymph nodes in the armpit, groin and neck usually point towards bartonella. Read this site below, many post on this same problem with late stage lyme.
undiagnosed22, I know this could also indicate many other problems. I would'nt stress yourself over it, see your doctor on Monday. You can also start with your family doctor. (Good Luck)

Yikes. Thanks so much for posting, Steve. I am trying to avoid my pcp since she thinks I am nuts and has thought this since I first got sick and that it is in my head. Although, now I feel more worried ( not your fault ). I have been having these for at lease t a month, and although they do not feel hot to the touch, oftentimes I feel like they are on fire. And, I have had swallowing issues since I became symptomatic in July 2010. Oh no .
Anyone else have any experience with this and is the gyno the appropriate doctor to see for this?
I also had swollen lymph nodes in my neck on the right side pre-lyme diagnosis when I was searching for answers still. They got so big that I had to have a biopsy done. The biopsy did not show anything malignant, only that they were "reactive nodes" but he doctor did not know what they were reacting to. That was 17 months ago though. Long time ago.
Any other experiences or knowledge anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

It can be from lyme and co. but it can also just be from other causes - groin lymph nodes can swell from a cut on your leg, foot, the stomach flu, any viral infection and also from hemorrhoids. Can be from an injury to your leg or foot - do you have any bruises?
About two years ago I had one and went to my pcp and he told me to give it two months to go down. So I avoided checking it until around the two month mark and sure enough - it was no longer there. That one did not hurt - I think it was deeper.
Now, I am dealing with another one that has been there for two weeks. It is not very big - kind of small but hard and tender to touch. It is closer to the surface. I can see it.
*Most* times these turn out to be nothing. And the stress of worrying about it is no good either.
So, check with the doc if it concerns you. I plan on doing that if mine doesn't disappear soon. Peace of mind is everything.
I have one in my neck that never completely went down and has been the same for 5 years. Doc doesn't seem to think it is a problem and I guess it is not. LLMD agreed.
One more thing - when I had my first one, I was really surprised by how common they are - just about everyone I expressed my concerns to had experienced one at some point. And they all went away eventually.
Best of luck!

I'm glad you got some good information from opus2828!
As far as what type of doctor to see for this - Everything I've read on-line says, see your (PCP) first.
If your (PCP) is concerned, she will send you to a specialist.
Most of us have the same problem with our (PCP) they think were ALL nuts.
Dont let your doctor intimidate you, you must be strong. Change doctors if youre not satisfied with the one you have.
Keep us updatedMaybe more members will have some advise.
I'm sorry if I worried you even more!

I have had swollen lymph nodes on the right side of my ear and neck for months now. With any stress they hurt. They let me know if I am doing too much. They kicked up after sinus surgery in early November and have not gone away since.

I would look into parasites. I had severely swollen lymph nodes everywhere. I was in complete pain. I also had huge lumps. I have been treating with Ivermectin and I believe that this is treating the lymph node problem.
I know that many people say look into parasites for everything, but parasites reproduce in the lymph nodes. It takes about 18 months for the microfilaria to become adults where they can cause not only pain but also huge lumps in the lymph nodes.
