Red rice yeast wasn't reducing the bad cholesterol enough for MD to be happy - so instead of doubling the dose, I agreed to go on a generic for lipitor....the one constant in the past 8 year history of Lyme has been lower back pain - all other symptoms have abated to a greater or lesser extent after years of abx and other remedies - i started Saturday and yesterday was almost free of back pain/ache and today there's a bit but nowhere near what is usual - and what pain i do have is different.... i'm wondering if its the statin .....anyone?

I remember reading something about cholesterol lowering medication helping some people that cannot detox well. I wonder if this is the case for you?!
If my mind was as sharp as it used to be, I would be able to give you the sites... I think if you do a google search, you may eventually find some information on this. I hope you continue to feel better!

forgot to mention above that back pain became crippling about the 5th day of lipitor....at the beginning of the 7th decided to not take it....so that relief the first couple of days was just a mirage....it got much worse as the contraindications would have predicted

Be very careful with lipitor. Arelative of mine was on it and ended up passing away recently from cirrhosis. After taking lipitor his liver suffered greatly.

- Randi.. that is not a fair statement. You only took the RYR a few weeks at a low dose and did not retest to see if your cholesterol came down. (probably didn't in that short period of time)
