I've learned that Lyme can do anything. Don't rule anything out.

I know it can cause destruction of the cartilage... and that can probably lead to a torn meniscus.
Osteo can be seen on X-rays. RA can show up in bloodwork, as can Lyme.
A rheumatologist can easily distinguish between RA and Osteo.. but not sure they would have a clue about lyme. Depends upon the doctor.

i had 2 repairs on each knee b4 i was 35...the doc said it "looks" like osteo-arthritis but it doesnt make sense . he was a pretty good doc. but not LL. he said i needed replacements then...but i waited 10 yrs b4 haveing them

I do know that CIPRO caused alarming knee problems for me and many others . I found many testimonies online of disturbing problems with quinolones and permanent damage . My own experience frightened me and I was shocked that I could barely bend my knee after a week of cipro. My neck was also stiff .
The knee was swollen for weeks afterwards and very stiff . The only thing that helped was prayer and magnesium citrate . The magnesium made a huge difference .

Oh dear, lpkayak, how did you wait 10 years? Wasn't the pain excruciating?
I can barely walk...am seeing an orthopedic doc this week, not LL:(

Yes, lyme loves the knees. I had knee problems 12 years ago when we moved to house that had deer cruising through our yard. It felt like something just ripped on top (slightly above knee cap) right after I stretched to go on a walk.
My doc (back then) couldn't understand what was wrong with my knee, so she sent me to physical therapy. The PT told me to do knee exercises (one of them worked). The exercise keeps the pain away. Whenever I get pain, I do the exercise.

i fell and damaged my right knew. I believe Lyme goes to the weakest or damaged areas.

I have found that taking turmeric on a daily basis reduces pain and swelling in my ankles and knees.

Yes absolutely these infections can cause damage to any body part.
Nettles is protective of the joint tissues (according to Buhner). And I find nettles very helpful for joint pain.

yeah...that was one of those things i had to do...i couldnt not work...my husband didnt have healthe ins-only me. 4 kids. you do what you gotta do.
i was in a wheelchair for 8 months before surgery. took a long time to research docs and hospitals in my area...had both replaced at the same time...it was the hardest thing i ever did...and i had 2 babies without drugs. 3 months later i started riding horses again...hadnet ridden in 10 yrs. glad i did it.
