Someone talked to me recently about someone who had been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. His ND instructed him to give himself fevers in order to kill any infection in his body. Supposedly, it worked, and he is now symptom free.

Has anyone else ever heard of this? It makes sense, but i'm wondering if it would help us at all given that we carry such a huge load of bugs.

Instructions were to take a hot, hot shower, then get into bed and wrap in a heavy blanket - this supposedly caused a fever.

interesting

The pathogens form cysts - so, this may help temporarily but not in the long haul. They also hide & borrow themselves into tissue or form biofilms for protection.

It's great to hear that this worked for this one guy. He may have had heavy metals, rather than infection as the reason for the umbrella label "fibromyalgia" and the heat helped his body sweat out the metals - or some other reason.

Just because it helped that one guy, does not mean it will help others. In fact, many have suffered damage from trying to induce fevers.

His case of "fibromyalgia" is not going to be like all the others - or like all of us here.

Many with "fibromyalgia" have chronic infection and heat can be very damaging.

Please DO NOT do this. Heat can cause some terrible problems - some that can be damaging - to those with lyme.

There is no heat that can get hot enough to kill spirochetes and not also kill a person.

Heat can CAUSE spirochetes to burrow deeper in the body and convert to cyst form faster as spirochetes hate heat (and vibration) and will "run" and get into their protection cyst form.

Heat can also clobber the adrenals, big time, and for days or longer. I've had months-long setbacks before I figured this out.

WARMTH can be good to help circulation and sweat but JUST WARMTH. It need not be hot. Big difference.

The warmth can help reduce heavy metals, too. Again, it need not be high heat.

Most with lyme have heat intolerance. The few who do not already know who they are but that can change so don't push it.

I'm very sorry to hear a ND tell a "fibromyalgia" patient this as, often, "fibromyalgia" is undiagnosed lyme or other chronic stealth infection and heat can be damaging, indeed.

I hope someone will request that ND get connected with ILADS and connect with the ILADS educated LL NDs. Sadly, just as with MDs, not all NDs are well enough educated to work with those who have chronic stealth infections such as lyme, etc.

(What ILADS is) . . . WHY you need an ILADS-educated, Lyme Literate Doctor - starting with assessment / evaluation.
