I am so confused as to how to proceed with this refeeding process. My dr told me to just eat what I can tolerate and keep down, which I am doing, and I am still losing weight. I am down to 81 pounds this morning.

I am drinking 2 ensures a day, drinking 2 protein shakes, eating rice and oatmeal cookies and applesauce and omelets with spinach. A few weeks ago I was eating veggies and chicken breast and water, so this is a big jump in intake.

I am being slowly driven mad by this. I am down to throwing up only twice a day since stepping off the high fiber and off the anitibiotics, so I don't know why the weight keeps dropping. I am under a lot of stress at the moment though, so I think it could be a factor. Even when I was well, I would drop tons of weight when I was worried.

Does anyone know of an easy way to increase my calories, keeping in mind that I have pretty severe gastroparesis and can't handle a lot of volume? Thanks a lot. Jess.

I think you said you were working-
Any way you can take some time off and get disability?

Less stress, and take the time to rest and get well.
This sounds very serious- PV's--

Yes I am eating lots of carbs at the moment, they ease the nausea. Surprise, I don't wanna take time off work. I am an editor and I am lucky that I can do a lot of my work from home.

I just got my dream job, a biography of F Scott Fitzgerald to work on, and I love my job. I can't lose it, it is one of my few sources of joy. Thank you though for yr help. Jess.

Flax meal helped me stop dropping weight. I put it on top of my quinoa porridge. The more the better (it works).

You can put applesauce or berries, cinnamon, and ginger on it. It's a complete protein and really good for you.

Also, I noticed you aren't eating any fats (is this due to fry bug?). Even so, it sounds like you need some. Avocados or nuts should help. You don't have to eat a ton, just something.

Also eggs and cheese if you can tolerate them. I am allergic to dairy, but that doesn't stop me from eating cheese (weakness). I never knew I was allergic to it, and I don't have any physical reaction from it that I can tell, but inside it can cause inflammation. We are all different. You have to do whatever works for you.

Jess, I read on another post of yours how tiny you are right now. I think I would try some fats regardless of Fry bug (if you have it). Whatever works. I think I may have the fry bug too, but I have to do whatever helps keep me alive.

Also, I know you know this, but you HAVE To do something to de-stress. Get a meditation CD or DVD. Take 5 or 10 minutes every day and just think about your breathing.

Hang in there.

Thanks Catgirl. I am going to eat some cheese today, I have actually been craving it . I don't feel hunger but I do get cravings and I feel like right now I should honor them because I just cannot waste away like this.

I am being tested for the Fry bug next week. I don't eat much fat because I dont have a gallbladder and if I eat a lot of fat, I get sick, but I do think I need some more fat, you are right.

I am really stressed at the moment over my health and some personal issues involving my relationships. I agree I need to de stress. I am going to stop at the library today and take out some meditation stuff. Thanks again for the support. Jess.

Have you intoduced any plant digestive enzymes or antiparasitic herbs? Parasites can eat half the nutrients that you consume.

They literally sit there waiting to be feed, but if you introduce the herbs they will ingest the poison and die. It's really worth a try.

Look at the symptom list at Humaworm and you will see weight loss as one of the symptoms. Glad to see you are eating Jess.

Thanks Gael. I am taking digestive enzymes but no antiparasitic. I was on Alinia several months ago though. Jess.

Gael is so right. As soon as I started digestive enzymes, I felt better. And, I also add cloves to my quinoa porridge while it's cooking (big heaping teaspoon of cloves, ginger and cinnamon).

I'm hoping that cloves will at least kill some parasite eggs. I know it takes more than that for parasites, but for the time being, cloves & diflucan are the best I can do right now.

Hey Jess - Been thinking about you. It does sound like you are eating more but still probably not enough.

I know in my case I was simply amazed at the enormous amount of food and calories it took to stop losing and maintain my weight and then to gain.

Stopping the weight loss is the first step, gaining comes after that.

And yes, stress does not help at all!

Eat that cheese - Amercian? If so, it has about 70 calories a slice. Cheese helped me a lot. I try to eat 5-6 slices a day.

Add up the total calories you are taking in daily. To gain weight it needs to be high - around 2,000 calories a day!

And even at that, it does take some time. Took me about 4 weeks to gain 1.5 lbs.

Just keep getting it down and it should happen soon!

Julie-thank you, i have been thinking of you too. Yes, the stress is definitely not helping. My best friend reminded me today when I saw her how much weight I have always lost when I get stressed, even when eating. When I was 20 and going through some school stress I was eating constantly to keep weight on and I still lost 10 pounds lol.

I ate cheese tonight, yes American. I actually added up my calories on average for the past week and it was 2200. I can't fathom needing more than that to stop the weight loss, but who knows?

Thank you so much for the encouragement. PM me anytime. I am always happy to hear from you. Jess.

Jess, I forgot to tell you that coconut oil is good for people who've had their gallbladders out. My daughter had hers out too.

I make her chicken curry with coconut oil and coconut milk when visiting and she has no problems with it. But I use the real coconut milk, not the boxed stuff with lots of fillers in it.

That will put some weight on you! :)
