I was in NC at the beginning of June. My son, husband and I went for a walk in a state forest. I might add we were not smart enough to put on spray. Anyway when we got back to the car my son found a deer tick (nymph) crawling up his leg. So we all started checking ourselves. I found 3 on my legs but no where else. Later that day we all took showers and checked again.
My son found two imbedded on his hip (7 total deer tick). My husband found one imbedded on his hip and one behind his leg (5 total deer ticks). I didn't find any others at this time.
Three days after we got home I had a very itchy bite on my back and a large rash around it (not a bulls eye). I took pictures to show my doctor in case. A day later I developed a stiff neck (lasted 9 days)...nausea...and a very disconnected feeling and off balance feeling.
I am asking this question because at the time I was actually taking Bactrim/Minocycline for Bart. So could I have been infected again even while on medications. I have not felt right since returning home a month ago...I am now having even worse insomnia problems and just feel wrong.
I am seeing my doctor on the 30th although I did email him when I returned home and asked if I was "safe" from another bite and he said yes...
So could a Lyme bite be itchy and sore? I am really in a panick thinking I could have been infected again...Any input would be welcome..Thanks

Wow that is a lot of ticks on three people! I am sorry you were all bitten.
I think it is possible you may have gotten Babs from the recent bite. It can cause stiff neck, nausea, and feeling off balance. If you did get Babs, the meds you are taking would not cover it.
Have you had Babs before?

I have never tested positive for Babs but was on Malarone back in 2007-2008. I will have to talk to my doctor as I never thought of that...thank you for responding!

It is definitely a good idea to talk with your doctor.
Let us know what he/she says. Good luck!

That is outrageous!
Your immunity has been lowered because of your previous infection and the use of ABX. It is easy for an untreated bug to spread and take over rapidly.
Bactrim DS is reported to also treat Babesia & some have used this with other drugs to treat Babesia. One person Bactrim with Artemisinin and another Bactrim with Rulide. It is reported that it takes a lot longer to rid of Babs with Bactrim, many months.

I was taking mycobutin/mino at the time of the bite. I think the doctor felt with the mino I would be safe but didn't think I could have a co infection... When I got home I switched to Bactrim/Mico. I forgot that I was still taking myco last month.
See the doctor next week but still not sure it was a tick bite...looked more like a mosquito bite with a large rash around it...sore and itchy.
