So I have noticed that my heart rate goes up a lot when I'm on my feet. Usually it is in the 60's and when I stand it's is close to 100. My bp goes up slightly, but not much.
Assuming I have POTS or something similar, what can be done about it? I really don't want to add a heart med into all my other meds. I am only 31. I am so scared that I'm causing a lot of damage to my body.
How do you know if POTS/heart issues are caused by the diseases themselves, medications, herxes, etc?? I am just so frustrated and I don't see myself getting any better. This has been a tough week.

I had POTS from lyme/babs. It will get better. In the meantime, try to increase your salt intake, avoid hot places, stay hydrated.
Sorry you are having a rough week

My POTSy son takes a beta blocker and florinef. POTS is defined by an increase in at least 30 beats per minute. A cardiologist would be able to tell you more and rule out anything more serious.
What happens when you go from sitting to standing? Have you ever passed out or nearly fainted?
You can search past posts for more POTS info or try reading for more info at dynakids.org. I know it is for kids but it has some great basic info on the different dysautonomias.
Think of any helpful meds as short term. They improve your quality of life. With Lyme treatment, POTS should go away.
Good advice from beths.

Is it better to try to lay down/sit most of the time so my heart rate doesn't get so high?

A high heart rate would exhaust my son and make him feel crappy. He spent many days laying or sitting. Not sure what is better. Sorry I can't help.
There are POTS forums online you could join for more information.
