Back in February I was dealing with lots of abdominal pain, diarrhea, bloating and gassiness. I figured it was candida, but since my LLMD didn't feel the need to act, I had a stool sample sent to Metametrix in the US.
Turns out my problem, was indeed, candida. I treated with oral amphotericin B, and my symptoms improved.
In the "Sensitivity - Fungi" section of the Metametrix report it says I'm sensitive/resistant to several pharmaceuticals/botanicals.
Two of the botanicals that I'm RESISTANT to are Alliin/Garlic and Artemisinin/Wormwood.
A Metametrix side note reads: "Agents indicated as 'Resistant' have low effectiveness and can increase the risk of inducing drug resistant organisms."
My current LLMD wants to put me on a supplement consisting of garlic and artemisinin. I'm against this, but he's ignoring the "resistance issue". Says he's not using this supplement to treat candida, he's using it for Lyme treatment.
I'm concerned. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated ....

I think this is a very good test, my daughter has had it-
My opinion, I would put stock into the results, and see if you can get different herbs you will react to-

My doctor sells his OWN supplements and it seems he uses the Garlic/Artemisinin combo for all of his patients.
I haven't started taking it yet, and I probably won't as I'm not only concerned about being resistant to it, but also about "inducing drug-resitant organisms".
I called Metametrix, but their customer service won't put me through to anyone who might be of help.
I hope your daughter is doing well?

I would NOT take that combo supplement. Possibly inducing drug resistant organisms is not something to play with!
I would look at the other ingredients in the combo, maybe you can take another one or two that would target Lyme individually. This way you can still support your Lyme treatment with the recommended herbs but not risk drug resistance.
You have to be your own advocate.
Take care
