After a year on various ABX, I am taking a break. I am on some small doses of anti-microbial and anti-malarial herbs instead.

I have gone from having extremely good bowel motility while on ABX to almost a halt. I am going every day, but I am not emptying out like I feel I should (sorry if this is too graphic).

This worsened when I started the Hanna Kroeger wormwood combo, so I have taken a break from that until I can get things in good working order again.

I am still taking a good probiotic and I drink lots of herbal teas and have lemon water every day. I have quinoa and flax seed at breakfast and include large salads with lunch and dinner.

I have doubled up on my magnesium, which I take at bedtime. I also have increased Vit C.

I tried some senna tea and it gave me extreme diarrhea resulting in messing with my digestive system. I will not use again.

Before going gluten free and before ABX, I used to be very regular by having All Bran for breakfast with fruit every morning. Now I cannot have this. Are there any gluten free cereals that provide that much fiber?

Do you know if this is just a result of my system adjusting to being off the ABX? I want these toxins out of my body and would appreciate any of your take on this. Thank you! [Roll Eyes]

Lyme is a neurological disease and it affects the nerves which govern the GI tract. I would say your problem comes from treatment that does not work as well as the abx. I have this same problem and probably a lot of other lyme people.

But everything was working just fine before I started ABX. The ABX got the motility in over-gear and now things are not back to where they were before ABX entered the picture.

You have a good point, though. If what you are saying is true, then the ABX did not do their job either - because at the point I started taking them, I did not have digestive tract issues...

I feel your system just needs to adjust. When I have taken breaks from abx my bowels seemed to be really messed up. Perhaps giving it a little more time may help.

As far as fiber, that is an issue I struggle with as well. I need more fiber than a gluten free diet can offer so I do need to add in some non gluten free items. I also need a good cup of coffee in the morning to get things going.

What probiotic are you using?

I think it's the Hanna K. Every single parasite cleanse I tried constipated me. You will get more regular once you're off of it a while. Try more salads, good dark green type (at least once a day) and oils.

Oxy Powder is great; it's oxygenated magnesium.

Switching up anything can affect your system, and especially if you're killing parasites.

Just make sure you re getting these toxins out of your system, any way that works. I swear by Oxy-Powder.

I know its a controversial issue but long term abx use.can cause permanent changes to gut flora causing chronic constipation and a permanently compromised immune system.

A series of colonics to open up the five feet of colon releasing major toxins is the best thing you can do to open up a clogged up system. You may want to do some research on this, before you get in serious trouble. The condition of the colon determines health. It all starts in the gut.

Anybody treating parasites should follow with colonics.

I only saw it once when my kitchen sink clogged up and Dr. Cowden always showed a plugged up bathtub in his presentations.

Take care.

Probably from the Hanna Kroeger Wormwood. Parastroy comes with a cleanse so that doesn't happen. Humaworm also suggests taking their cleanse when taking the Humaworm.

There was a guy (not sure who it was) on the ILADs stream this evening who said that constipation is almost always from parasites.

Catgirl, that was said on the ILADS program today.

I love Oxy Powder- really gives a good clean out-
and yes, I've battled constipation for years

(currently under control by alternating Oxy powder and triphala)
and am STILL treating parasites.

DD had huge GI issues and we did it all- -probiotics, GF, DF, high-dose C and mag and pretty much any and every single thing you could possibly do to relieve constipation.

If I took a 10th of the stuff she did, I'd be in the bathroom every 5 minutes.

Finally ended up seeing an excellent GI doc (yeah, I know, hard to believe and long story there).

He recommended a total clean-out using a big dose of Miralax, followed by nightly doses of Miralax.

This has been our saving grace. She had already been treated for parasites.

Hope this helps.
