found this while trying to find some info. Does this mean that if a person is positive for band 28 that it is more likely to be brucellosis rather than lyme(if that is the only band that shows up positive on the western blot....just not sure if I understand the article correctly.

Sounds to me like 28 is not specific to brucellosis, as only half of the patients showed that band. That band is one the CDC includes in the list that they require for lyme. Looking more for a pattern of bands, than one specifically.
If you were seriously concerned that you had brucellosis in addition to or instead of lyme, maybe an antigen test should be ordered, if there is such a thing. I am assuming your history and symptoms have been considered, rather than putting all the weight on one band in an indirect test.
To read all the old threads on this disease, do a search. Just hit "search" near the top of the screen, and use the search term "brucellosis."
That's how I found the above thread for you. There are many, many more. Hope this helps.

This quote from the article is saying that at least 2 of the following bands: 47, 41, 38 and 33 were positive for 90.3% of the people with acute brucellosis.
And, it said that folks without brucellosis did not have any more than one of the above bands show up as positive.
So, band 28 isn't even mentioned in this part of the summary.
No sense worrying about brucellosis just based on this article. Go by symptoms, exposure, etc.
