I've been on IV Rocephin for 2.5 months plus Mepron, Zithromax, ursodiol, hychlorioquine sul, Tindazole 2x a week.
I take Probiotics and hadn't had any issues until about 3-4 weeks ago. I had loose stools that were 3-4 times over a few hours most days.
I upped my probiotics and added Jarrow Formulas Saccharomyces Boulardii per my LLNP.
Last 10 days I switched to Rocephin 2x a day 4 days on, 3 days off. First night with new regime I was throwing up. I got a cold on top of everything. Saturday frequency was such that I had to stay near bathroom. It has improved but still not normal.
My stools smell very odd...sort of chemical like but not exactly. Maybe similar to the odd taste of some antibiotics but much stronger.
Could it be drug smell or probiotics?
I'm getting tested for C diff.
Wondering if this rings a bell with others? Suggestions?

When I had C diff recently, the smell really bothered my husband. A nurse said that she knows the smell of it.
Of course, for me, I had about 11 BMs per day. Plus I had a high fever and a smaller appetite.
You may or may not get a fever.
I only had about 5 seconds warning when I had to run to the bathroom. That was the worst thing about it. And, it often happened a number of times throughout the night. So, not much sleep.
If it is C diff, you will have to stop all your antibiotics and just take antibiotics for C diff. You will have to take Florastor twice per day (the Saccharomyces Boulardii) for as long as you have it. And, my lyme doc advised that I continue taking it for a good 6 weeks after getting rid of the C diff.
Don't take Immodium or anything else to stop the diarrhea until you know whether it is C diff or not. The ER doc didn't allow anything that would stop the diarrhea. Guess you will never get rid of the C diff if you take anti-diarrhea meds.

If you do any herbals, you may want to try high doses of curcumin. In a clinical test it was as effective as vancomycin (drug of choice) in curbing c diff.

I got c-diff from the rocephin. Only sx was "the squirts" There was no foul odor at all.
Got it again from clindamycin. Again, the squirts but no foul odor.
And FYI you can have c-diff but still test negative. It's a "clinical diagnosis" so to speak (yeah, can you believe that???).
Anyway, c-diff can be treated with flagyl which also hits the Lyme or vanco, which surely hits something but I'm not sure what.
It's very important to take s. boulardi probiotics when taking abx for Lyme and coinfections in order to avoid c-diff.

I'll second/third upping levels of Probiotics. I have had my share of GI issues.
I'm currently on a very similar regimen of IV Rocephin 4on/3off, double dose Mepron, pulse Tindamax 2 day/week, zithromax, bactrim DS, and latest addition ramping to 18 drops Cats Claw once a day. We may have the same LLNP (Susan?)
In the past I did have a bad "squirts" time when taking Augmentin and had to eliminate it. See if you can determine which ABX caused the trigger. When I started TindaMax the first day's dose was tough on me, and LLNP said if it didn't improve she would change to IV Flagyl.
Through the last 2 years of treatment I changed from regular VSL#3 to prescription strength VSL# DS, and also added a mid-cost Saccharomyces Boulardii, then changed up to Floristor 2 caps twice a day.
PureFormulars has the best price on the Floristor at around $37.00 (MSP is $49.00) Hopefully your script plan will cover the VSL3# DS.
Maybe try chewing on a few cloves a day and take Ginger Root casules to help settle things down. I have been keeping Cloves at my desk and chewing a few a day regularly.
Hopefully your C-diff test will be negative as was mine. With your heavy ABX combo just getting things under control will be a good thing. Drink plenty of fluids.
