We suspect my girlfriend has Lyme's: was told my another lyme patient's eye doc that iritis often assoc with lyme and based on other symptoms. She gets very sick and I am telling her to get tested for lyme. Taking her to doc in Feb-not sure what to do if negative lyme test. If positive at least she knows what she is dealing with. Anyone else have Menieres, tinnitus and incidents of iritis that this would make sense??

PS... How long has she been off of gluten?? Many of her symptoms could resolve if she avoids gluten like the plague.
All of those symptoms COULD BE from gluten itself.

Where are you getting her tested? If through a regular Dr. or even an infectious disease Dr., almost guaranteed to be told it's negative. A non lyme literate Dr. will interpret results as negative almost every time.

See listener comments, too. They show us how very wrong the ID doctor is who was interviewed. Very typical, though, and why ID doctors are not the ones who help those with lyme. -

- Gluten intolerance could be a separate matter and might be the main problem (maybe the only problem - although it can cause lot of trouble).
It can also go along with lyme (and for those with lyme, most LLMDs strongly suggest a gluten-free diet even for those who are not celiac because gluten with infection can result in "leaky gut").

- Eye problems as you describe are commnon with lyme, though there can be other reasons of course. Until she can get in for a good assessment with a LLMD:
ASTAXANTHIN - an antioxidant that has great promise for the eyes
Also be sure to get your FISH OIL - Many here really like OmegaBrite - just Google.
TAURINE is an essential amino acid for the eyes. Be sure your diet includes plenty. Vegetarians MUST supplement as it's primarily in muscle meat, fish and eggs. -

Thank you all. We are just at the beginning of the process but I have learned so much from 1 day on this forum. Mostly the need for lyme literate doc and the name of Ingenex. In the meantime we will be focusing on detoxing her body which cannot hurt as it is near impossible to avoid toxins with our air, water and food supply

Yes, Lyme hits the eyes. I am able to stop all my Lyme eye symptoms by drinking mangosteen juice, an anti-inflammational juice - you can find it in healthfood stores and online.
If you try it, go slowly and drink some water. I drink a little in the am and pm.
For tinnitus, I tried a PEMF machine - pulsed electro-magnetic frequency machine - we hold a coil as it emits magnetic pulses and increases our electro-magnetic energy.
It quieted my tinnitus for 6 hours after treatments. A top Lyme doc said it probably quieted the nerves to the ears.
Chiropractors, bodyworkers and physical therapists could have a PEMF machine. 400-700 gauss strength is easiest to handle.

"will be focusing on detoxing her body" (end quote), I worry because that can mean all kinds of things to all kinds of people.
We don't "detox our bodies" but, rather support our bodies so they can better "detox" is a word many use but really, it's supporting the function that the body takes to metabolize waste.
It's just that those with lyme are hit hard from all angles. But you can't push the liver or the kidneys. They can only work as hard as they can work. Tender Loving Care is required.
Be sure this support is not so much as a series of events but on-going measures that resonate with the body. I've seen too many "detox disasters" born out of good intentions.
Since you line up the first task as "detox" - I hope you mean while waiting to get in to see a good LLMD. Liver support will not be enough.
If there is a wait for a LLMD,
A naturopathic doctor may have an opening sooner(best if LL) - a good idea to have on your/her team. Many LLMDs and LL NDs work together.

By detox I meant just drinking a very clean water that is alkaline, living water that in our WI community has proven to get the bugs out of hiding and flush them from our cells. We do get a herxing effect but we view that as a good thing.
