I've seen some posts on here where people mentioned using clove oil. Maybe if you do a search, you can find them.
You can also rub oil of oregano on your tooth, or soak a cotton ball and wedge it in the area where it hurts.

Clove oil (active ingredient eugenol) is available in most drug stores. I have a small bottle of it called "Red Cross Toothache Medication" which I keep handy. It does work pretty well, but it's strong and can also numb your lip and mouth pretty bad, so be a little cautious where you spread it and try not to let it drip.
It usually comes with some little cotton pellets. You soak the pellet and then carefully place it on the tooth with tweezers.

MMS - frequent rinsing. And learning about MMS is beneficial.

Clove oil is good. Take some asprin or excedrin - or pain meds if you have any. I had to deal with a improper filling for weeks until I could get back to the dentist. It was drilled too deep & it was hitting the nerve. It's not fun but you will be OK.

Another thing you could try is 'oil pulling' with sunflower or sesame oil.

Also - warm salted water is good, too. Sea salt or himilayan crystal salt is better than table salt.

Also, sparkle, thanks or the reassurance. I loved reading that.
It's just one other piece of junk to deal with, right?

Yeah, we'll get through all of this somehow...
Warm or cool compresses may help. Don't swish anything in your mouth too hard until the dentist fixes it. The clove oil was the best for me because it numbs it out a bit. It also kills pathogens.
The dentist gave me some prescription pain meds over the phone (to the drugstore) since I had to wait to see her.
Take care!
