My pharmacist tells me she can't refill my prescription (1 gram vial Cefotaxime for injection) because their suppliers are all out and won't have it until June. She also called another pharmacy for me and their suppliers don't have it either.

I can't find any current info on this via Google, just older info.

Does anybody know if there is really a shortage of this? Or do you know if there is someplace else for me to look? (I put in a call to my Dr.'s office but won't hear back until early next week.)

I'm annoyed and upset. Have been doing these shots (along with oral tindazole) a couple of months and feeling like I'm improving. Grrr!

This is becoming a common occurrence with a lot of drugs.

My pharmacist told me the same thing last week re: Ceftin tablets. They gave me the last 52 tabs they had. He also told me it was a manufacturer backlog & that he was told it should be resolved in a couple of weeks for the tabs, not sure re: vials.

That's interesting about the Ceftin tabs. My doctor is prescribing Omnicef (cefdinir) oral caps, to replace the Claforan shots with. I hope this backlog doesn't include those as well! Will find out later today.

I have been feeling very stressed out about this, because I'd started feeling a lot better on the shots, and don't want to go backwards. But maybe I'll do well on the caps.

Normally I'm a very resourceful person but with this disease the least little thing throws me into a tailspin!
