I would like compare my experience with others, if you don't mind.
At 4 weeks time after using Claforan and then recently Clindamycin, I have experienced intense pain the instant I start infusing.
I describe the pain as ischemic pain. With Claforan it started in my arms and legs. With the Clindamycin it started in my head with pressure. Then over the course of 3 days it moved to involve the head, spine and lower back. Then last night it also included my arms and legs.
Not muscle spasm pain. But an incredibly constant tight feeling that increased to a pain scale level of 8-9.
I stopped the IV Clindamycin from infusing. Took a Benadryl, Aleve and Tylenol. It took an hour to resolve.
Anyone experience this? Anyone have a name or term for this? It is not really an allergic reaction. I get that it is a herx. I guess I am looking for a more accurate term.
Also, did it ever stop or did you have to change to a different antibiotic?
Thanks in advance, Karen

Sounds like an allergic reaction. What did your doctor say?

Hi, Faithful. Doc hasn't responded yet. After much searching I came across the term "neuritis". That is what I was experiencing. Nerve pain. And yes, it is an allergic reaction or hypersensitivity reaction Type III
Wonderful. (She says sarcastically...) I really liked Clindamycin.
