Just today I started Azithromycin. I am starting out at 250 mg twice a day.

I have just started cramping in the lower abdomen.

I am not going to worry much about it, I read the precautions and it said it could cause abdominal pain, loose stools and such.

I thought I would give it a good seven days to see if it gets better before deciding to give it up.

Just wondering if anyone else experienced the cramping, if it goes away, or is this a possible sign that I need to stop taking it and go to another antibiotic.....

Cramping is not serious, a little bit uncomfortable. But those of you who may have experienced this might could give me a little insight on this Azithromycin.

Thanks.

I am on IV zith and it causes a lot of tightness in my stomach. Nothing in the lower abdomen though. LLMD gave me pills for nausea to get me through it.

Carolann, it gave me the worst stomach pains and worse nausea. Even nausea meds wouldn't helpI and I vomited once. The pain was so bad I couldn't move.

I am on my third week of taking it, and it's so much better. I get pain but it's not as bad. What also helped me was slowing it down.

This is normal with zithro according to my LMDD and it will get better!

Lymetoo,
I am taking Ultimate Flora (30 billion) and somewhere on this site I read that you need at least 200 billion a day.

I haven't been taking that much. I am taking 4 tablets daily which is supposed to be 120 billion.

That stuff is costly!

My stomach was okay at work today. It could have been just a one time thing. Hope so.

This would be much cheaper....

http://www.customprobiotics.com/custom-probiotics-adult-formula-cp-1.htm

90 capsules .. 50 billion each .. about $45

But yes, MINIMUM of 100 billion a day and a good diet too!

Be sure to take them 2 hrs away from abx. I like to take them first thing in the morning and last thing at night.

That happened to me, too, but it got much better after the first week.

I started taking it with food half way through a meal.

My doc had me do only one zith a day for a week, and then I started on two a day. By then I was fine.

I just took my second Zithromax for the day. I took one yesterday. I took the second one today less than an hour ago.

So far I feel fine. I have been taking the probiotics a couple of hours after my antibiotics.

Other than the bit of cramping last night, I am fine.

So far, I have only taken doxy, ceftin, and now zithromax. The ceftin seemed to bother my head quite a bit and my ears. Bad headaches. Floaters.

Called the doc and he told me to go to Zith and I am kind of wondering why because I know that Zith is hard on the ears.

So I am just waiting to see what this will do.

That is a good probiotic Lymetoo. 50 billion in one pill. The highest I could find here was 35 billion and I only found that once.

Anything to cut down on pills!

luvema,
Maybe I will be lucky and last night will be my first and my last bad issue with zith!!! Wouldn't that be great!
